That frame looks BEEF. Next time Google does an update, I think we will see a very different looking truck. They like to take pics when I'm broke down too. The Google car seems to be attracted to tarps for some reason.
 
4th link is in, next on the list is the hoops and bumps. Hoping I don't get called in tomorrow and can get these items figured out. Maybe start picking up the steel for the plates. Would it be OK if instead of bending the 1/4 sheet I cut it in sections then weld the sections then grind it down so it's flat?
 
I'm thinking of building one from where the forward cab mounts to all the way to the steering box. I wanted to put the plate in 3 pieces then weld them together instead of hearing and bending then grinding the weld flat so it looks like it was bent. I also plan on making a few speed holes for extra weld surface.

Hoping I can get this mounted today, I drilled a new hole in the coil over bracket to push the coil over away from things, made a world of difference.
 
Running into another huge problem... :doah: Didn't expect this one to come up... I was going to set the axle at full bump on both sides to make it easier to set the shock hoops.

Well with 4 inches of up travel on the passenger side the pan hard hits the frame and oil pan, the axle runs into the engine cross member.

I can move the drive train back a bit but I don't think the headers will clear... think they might be for sale soon. :frown1: Never mind the gap on the spring pad, the tack welds broke monkeying it around.
 
So now I really have 29% up travel being at 4 inches... This truck really doesn't want to make it to Moab...
 
I would be concerned about a bent panhard bar in a 100mph jump in the middle of an off camber corner on race day. Otherwise, ehhh!

Maybe I might do some high speed jumps, huckfest here I come. :haha:

So why not set the ride height higher so you maintain your bump?

I want to maintain the 4 inch lift, really going for a low slung look.


I don't know the curbs and the bunny slopes at Moab are going to be intense!

I wouldn't be the least bit concerned about it, we do it all the time. The material is way overkill.

You guys wouldn't happen to be able to make one for me would you? I might go in town on this seems easiest.


Another thing I noticed is my drivers side frame rail is up higher then the passenger side?:dunno:
 
I was able to swap the drag link in place of the pan hard to see how well it would work. A 2 inch bend in the bar like the ORD drag link it will be close but still could use a bit more. A 2.5 inch bend I think would work out much better but I think it will be slanting down then back up towards the bend then even out again.

Once I get the passenger side full bump then I bring the drivers side up and this happens...

At full pump that pad is supposed to be even with the frame rails.

This truck just doesn't want to be put together it's fighting me every chance it gets!
