Good cause really all I wanted to do was clean it up and slap new head gasket on, only reason why I took the heads off was because last time the bolts were reused and they are torque to yield...

Damn it feels good to be working on it again.:woot:
Why are there reused bolts on your heads? Did it blow a head gasket before you bought it and whoever just slapped the same bolts back in?

The engine was gone through before to check it out.

I've only got three responses and they encompass all that is needed and all that is great :

:hack::weld::grind:

Oh no,:haha:

I want to see a picture of your truck with at least six feet of air underneath it some time before the end of this spring. :eek1:  :woot:

That might be pushing it a little but air it will get.

It's been so long my legs are a little sore this morning.:doah:

I completely tear down and rebuild front axle, 4 replies.

Ben talks about doing work, 5 pages of replies :haha:

Glad you guys got a game plan. Excited to see this thing running.

I think it's because of the anticipation of this thing done. My cheer squad is just posting up. I thought maybe a couple replies, didn't expect this many.

Thanks guys for the good words.

Yep. Adam, I think Ben is right. If you post up a ton of progress over the course of 2 days, it's business as usual. We expect that from you now a days! But Ben talking about doing work is quite unusual in recent months.

just glad to see him excited about it... for awhile there, I thought he was gonna bail on it..

Yep. Looks like he just needed a break. Now he's back with some reinforcements and he's ready to knock it out of the park. :woot:

I'm putting a list together for the engine, this is going to be spendy.:doah: blazer bash here I come burnout

Be very careful on what you do in that motor. Its not a traditional SBC and needs some special tools ($$) to do some simple tasks. If you're putting heads gaskets on it and calling it a day, that's easy.

I have a few friends that can work on these in their sleep all with the proper gm tools.:thumb:

I asked one to help guide me put it together, he said sure for a 30 pack of beer.:thumb:

"with the proper gm tools" <- Cool!

I was one of those guys who didn't know ALL the differences until I already had ripped my LQ4 apart. It was then I realized that you can't recondition the rods, crappy pistons, etc. Luckily, I found a guy on eBay who was selling the GM LS tools for a great price. My quick refresh (ring and bearing) turned out to cost a bit of money once I bought pistons, rods, ARP, etc, etc.

The only positive side is that the longblock will be going in a first gen Camaro project which will make better use of the performance parts. My Blazer will be getting a fresh LQ9 in the next few weeks.
