I'm missing something I think...what is this dreaded fuel in the oil syndrome on the LS? Bad injector pukes fuel into the oil, loss of lubricity leads to bearing failure?

Sorry to hear about the bad luck. Hope you get it dialed in without too much trouble/expense.

Maybe you got lucky and trashed just cam bearings, giving you a wonderful excuse to put something bigger in.

Just depends on how much work you wanna do. You can yank the engine and spend a few days tearing it apart and redoing stuff to put it back in. Or buy another takeout for a grand. Slap a cam in it while you keep driving it as is. Do a quickie swap. And then tear down the old engine while you have a running vehicle to rebuild it and either have a spare/engine ready for next project. Or sell it to recoup some money while never having a down vehicle.

Haven't made up my mind yet, I want to sit on it until tomorrow and figure it out.

I might just finance a long block through work.

If anything it's getting a 6.2 hahaha

Seriously as much power as it had, it was so much fun! I would be upset with less.

Dear Santa, please bring me a fresh lq9 long block. My pretty powder coat covers willl make it shine.

On the bright side I made it to Moab, wheeled all weekend with minimal breakage and daily drove it for a month. Sure beats being shoved in a garage for years... How many years is it going to take to swap a long block? Lol

I'm curious what other problems it has. You tend to make mountains out of mole Hills. As such, I'm not totally convinced it's dead. I have pulled dip sticks that had "glitter" in the oil and thought, well, I'll just drive it till it dies, and it never died.

I tend to agree. It seems like there was problems with the injectors from the beginning. I would replace them with a quality set, change the oil, and drive it.

It's down power and making a bearing screach noise every few rotations. As it revs the noise gets louder and more noticeable.

It might not be completely done, but needs major work. I don't really have the place and knowledge to find out what's wrong. I have somewhat of a idea but would need a second set of eyes.

Didn't know you could powdercoat these valve covers. Might have to look into that

Didn't you say somewhere recently you were looking into adding more power anyways?

Now you have good excuse :flipoff7:

Already changed the oil once, have more oil and filters, but at this point it probably won't make a difference. I already replaced the bad injector.

The oil looks gray even after the oil changed.

I have a few ways I can go about this.

1. Rip it apart find the source and get it fixed.
2. Used engine in but the tune will be off unless I swap my cam and valve springs if they are good.
3. Long block reman or new.

Either way at this time I don't have the money to do either or.
