This thread took a philosophical turn. I don't have much to add. The truck is definitely a money pit. It's obvious that you're ok with that, but you're gonna hafta come to an agreement with her as to how the two of you are going to handle having such a drain.
Some of you know that I would love to do a 4BT swap, just for the fun of figuring it all out. I still don't have one, and it's not in the cards any time soon. It's not a technical hurdle, not even a financial one. My wife and I decided (a few years ago) that we don't think a 4BT would be the best way to invest our time & resources. So it's on indefinite hold and we're doing other things instead. Priorities may shift at some point, but they haven't thus far. And the truck dreams have adjusted accordingly.
Keeping the S.O. happy is a very important part of maintaining this hobby. You want her support for this. Not that you should ditch any gal that doesn't understand the hobby, but be careful that the hobby doesn't get in way of the relationship. They need to coexist if you're gonna find domestic happiness. Balance is important.
