All data or not, your Trans was working just fine, then you did an engine swap, and then it wouldn't shift. So you decided to re pin the trans connector? Sounds to me more like you missed a ground or mucked up a wire when you did the swap and as you said, cleaned up the wiring.

The plug on the trans side was broke, only reason i 're pinned it was because the new used harness I got was different. Using a scan tool the trans is getting 14 volts and is properly grounded.

But the Trans worked perfect until you pulled the motor. And then didn't work right as soon as the new motor was put in. Is that correct?

I was thinking that it worked for a while. He survived Moab, no? But that's going back so far that I'm not sure. To much PADDING in the thread. :haha:

Sucks to hear the news that the trans may be toast. Nothing like being punch in the bean bag, while you are already down. But good on you for staying positive. Not sure I would be able to keep my chin up.

Are you getting a check engine light? Almost sounds like it may be in limp home mode. Do you have a way to check line pressures on the trans?

Yes you are correct.

Yes it does, but I don't think it's trans related and I forgot the code.

But at the end of the day the amount of material in the pan was scary

If your line pressure is low, it will cause many of the symptoms you're seeing. Could be low because of a clog or leak on either the intake or pressure side, or pump going bad.

I'm still trying to decipher this one particular question. Answer me yes or no so we can best help you.

Did the Trans work perfectly up until the engine swap and then not work perfectly immediately after the engine swap?

The reason I ask is obvious. If the answer from you is yes, then you did something and we'll have to re trace your steps.

Yes

Interesting. If it was me, I would be fairly confident that I left a wire unplugged, damaged a wire, left a ground undone, etc before I assumed the Trans was hosed.

Also, the Trans doesn't just need power and ground going to to it. It needs the rest of the info that the computer sends to it. And the computer needs all the info from the rest of the sensors to be able to provide that info to the Trans.

Not saying the Trans isn't toasted right now but, something changed that caused these issues. That something changed with the engine replacement.

Make a list of everything that touches both the engine and transmission, wires, computer, lines, etc. Which of the things on that list did you change and or adjust? You will be able to start getting an idea about what is the ultimate culprit here. Also look for pinched wires somewhere.

I say you can have the trans rebuilt and the same issues are going to be there in short order.

Yes you are correct, I'm using a tech 2, I can see the voltages, vss output , what gear it's in and when the ecm commands the next gear and other stuff.

I couldn't ask for a stronger tool to use

I took Friday off and going to try and tackle it, a afternoon isn't going to cut it. The filter and fluid was disgusting, never have seen a pan that dirty. When I used to do filter kits at work I never saw anything remotely close.

If indeed the trans is toast I'll weigh the option of a 4l80e. I would love a 6l80e but that's pushing it.

If it sounds like I'm jumping into just rebuild the trans I'm not. I think this one has some life left but it won't be no 100k mileage trans.
