I don't know anything about really heavy loads, but I towed my 25' travel trailer with my half ton burb, I had the load leveling bars and an anti sway doohicky. Around town I'd loosen up the anti sway, but when I hit the freeway I'd crank down on it pretty good, and it did great even passing, (or most often being passed) by a semi, it never felt like the trailer was moving me around.

Do they put that stuff on car hauler trailers?

Should. My folks rolled an F150 pulling a Camaro in an enclosed trailer.

Other that the fear of an automatic transmission dying, any reason not to drive it? Doesn't sound like you are looking for a hardcore trail once you get there

I just like the idea of towing it sense it is going to be wheeled and dont have to drive 6 hours home.

I have the option to tow why not try to use it so i can safely get home.

I had some unexpected time today to myself so im trying to organize the garage the best i can to prep to take the trans out.

No the old lady and her mom took off to go check out some sights around town and I stayed home.

tools are all put away and trash is away. Next time im out ill start pulling the truck apart.

I wish i would have picked up a 5 wheel or goose neck trailer from the get go. So we could just rent a trailer and go.
But i never thought i was going to have a need to pull 2 trucks.

I do love using my 30' gooseneck with 2 rigs. Fuel cost is 1/2.

One thing to help justify it. Add a small camper to the front half so when he is towing just one rig there's a built in camper. And just take it off to haul both.
