I know that hindsight is 20/20, but rebuilding automatics sure does seem to be a crap shoot. Gotta find a guy who knows his stuff, but I'm not sure how you can know that ahead of time. :dunno:

The guy I'm going to now knows his stuff. He builds Baja 1000 trans and runs a reputable shop in california.

Tomorrow I hope to touch the paint up then wire it and get some light on it.

Friday will be the big push to get the boat done, don't think it will be a problem. Might get the boat on the lake saturday for a bit but Sunday for sure. We are spreading my Dad and his best friend and old hunting dog at their old location.

Don't you have to change the input shaft on the 241 to go 4l80. 32 spline as the 27 you have.

On the 241 the bearing and shaft should be the same so track down the 32 spline version input and replace it. Should be less than 100$ plus going to the 4l80 youll likeley have to repin the connections. Only downside is your gearing in 1st is much taller 3.06(4l60) vs 2.48(4l80). The good news is your 2-3 shift and 3-4 shifts are close than before. If it was me ID jump all over that.. this 4l60 has been a crapshoot. My burb has a 4l80 with 170k miles and doesnt leak, shows no signs of quitting any time soon.
