While I understand what you are saying, since we discussed it before....It appears to have different bearings then my 91 case did and I stuck my finger in both fill and drain plugs it felt completely different!
THAT SOUNDS WEIRD, Maybe dirty..

Ttt, who knows?Going to start on the tcase here soon. Does anyone know what size the bolts are for the case to bolt to the adapter?
Run it til you can hear it slapping the inside of the case when driving. Then replace with heavy duty one.
Pulled the case apart tonight, looks to be in good shape. Anyone know the spec on the chain? Is their a way to accurately measure the chain?

Even with the case half split? The main shaft does move some so it tossed it off. This is what I know... if you take the chain and with your fingers about 3 inches apart squeeze the chain together anything over 1/8th of an inch is worn out.
A new chain will have no play. Not precise but a guide. Use your own descresion.

I think I see what you are saying.Sure you only need 3” of chain to check with.
Should be a natural
