Silly question but why does it need rtv if the seal is spring loaded around the od of the yoke? I'm assuming sense the shaft is splined it seeps fluid through?
 
It seeps between the splines as there is no seal inside for the splines.
 
They look like this. Goes on before the flat steel washer and nut. Or use some right stuff.

Hmm interesting, looks like I get to pull it off again.
Just the nut and washer.
Put rtv then put the washer back and the nut.
Hand tighten until you see some rtv squish,that means it's sealed all over, and let sit overnight.
Next day tighten the nut.
 
So I did the rtv trick and it still leaked... I thought about it for awhile and could only think of one thing, it's coming out the vent.

Well, you gotta repair stuff when it breaks, even if its the vent line...
Run it up to the firewall
 
The factory set-up has the vent line going up to the back of the engine. The only time I had that case vent fluid was after 3 days of wheeling in Moab, and the vent line had a low spot in it. After running 80 mph on the interstate going home, it belched a little and then was fine. If you notice where the vent is in relation to the planetary, you can understand how oil gets tossed close to the vent. There is a deflector inside though.
 
Good news is the trans isn't filling up the tcase so I don't have to drop it down.

Wonder if I could just do one of those vent bellows and not have to run line up?
