I've never seen a V band in mild steel, only stainless. Same with the weld on flex couplings, they are all stainless ends with braided stainless.

I can get stainless V bands from Vibrant in stock, and stainless flex from Stainless works, in stock. But they are all stainless.

I can get you stainless V bands, stainless pipe, and stainless flex couplings if you want. If you want aluminized then I won't be of much help right now, not in stock.

One thing I've come to like about the flex pieces is that it gives you some room to move the exhaust pipe if things don't land exactly where you want.

Hmmm, I already have half the parts then if you can mig weld stainless, do you weld it just like normal?

Interesting, haven't seen the steel V bands. Don't they rust together?

I imagine some would. The turbo to downpipe connections seem to typically be steel against cast. At least all of the ones I can recall are. They always come apart, but always get cooked good, which should help keep the moisture out.. Cummins 12 and 15 liter that have at work.
Not sure that I would want it in any low hanging areas on my personal projects.

I haven't noticed corrosion with mine. I've had the exhaust apart a few times and it hasn't been an issue yet.

You can mig stainless just fine with regular wire however the weld will rust like it's mild steel. The welds tend to spatter a little more. You can get flux core stainless mig wire that welds decent but takes some practice to perfect. I wouldn't worry about it too much, you live in the desert you could strip all the paint off your truck and it still wouldn't rust.

Yup I agree and that's what I'm going to do, so I don't need the stainless wire with the er 308l electrode? Little confused as to why it was recommended other then it's the right thing to use but I'm not using tri mix either.

You can use the er 308l solid wire but you have to have the tri-mix gas.

This is the stainless flux core. It is easier since you can just pop it in your machine but it's more difficult to weld with.

Pretty happy with this, and yes the tailgate is my work bench.

Cool! I didn't realize that you had such a small muffler. I put the exact resonators on my '01 which has a small cam in an LQ9. It dropped the DB by 4 in the rpm range where I have bad drone. Not much, but it definitely helped.

It's the size of a beer can. Hoping it quiets down in a few ranges, after the cam and upgrades it's obnoxious now.

Was going to slap the tcase in but talking ls swaps with @the_blaze I need to put my vss in the adapter for low range to shift the trans.

And today I bought a hood off offer up, new in box $140

Maybe this weekend I might be able to drive it. Anybody have idea for a hood latch/pop mechanism? I don'twant to use the factory one and I don't want to destroy another hood doing pins.

What is wrong with the stock setup?
I have no problem with the 81-91.
The older one was a little more trouble

With the fancy new firewall panels I dont want to drill a hole. I also tossed my cable out. But I'm at the point I might as well just do it.

Truck moved out of the side yard Saturday, ran it for 20 mins. Went to start it Sunday and dead... thought I put gas in it during blazer bash but figured I would put more into it. Added 5 gallons today no fuel pressure.

So I got a dead fuel pump and friday it goes to it's yearly c10 truck meet.... work is insane right now over busy. Will work 50+ hours monday-thursday and swap a fuel pump.
