They have a weird thermal switch to control temps or something on them and gm ended up deleting them. Not sure if mine has it or not but it does the same as yours. I figure if it isn’t 220+ I don’t care much in the daily. When I towed the crew cab to Sand Hollow last year with our 08 Silverado 6.0L with the 6l80e the only thing I didn't like was the trans temps. I was thinking it could use extra cooling capacity.
Towing last week in 108° +, single axle trailer max 3500 pd.
4l80e ran same as coolant, with a +2 quart Derale cool pan and stock trans cooler.
Wednesday afternoon at 100° trip to St George, no trailer, ran 20-25° cooler than coolant temps.
Not sure if pan is available for the 6l80e
Did a little searching and a lot people install a Tru-Cool 40k cooler: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00803CTD...CGLPPKEC&psc=1&ref_=list_c_wl_lv_ov_lig_dp_iiThey have a weird thermal switch to control temps or something on them and gm ended up deleting them. If I was keeping this truck for a long time I probably would do something.Did a little searching and a lot people install a Tru-Cool 40k cooler: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00803CTD...CGLPPKEC&psc=1&ref_=list_c_wl_lv_ov_lig_dp_ii
Normally agreed but my confidence in it mechanical is good. It hasn’t changed in 5 years.I commute the truck to work for a week before a big trip.
