1983 K10, Shannons truck. ***UPDATE POST #418***

I threw one away because nobody wanted it!

I really need to find a transmission jack like this one I borrowed from her cousin. It is the best thing ever.

Mandatory greasy hand print shot..... lol

She coated it in some hammered black.

All sealed up. I really hope this works, that was a lot of screwing around just for a leak... The coupling thing between the trans and tcase had some scratches in it, I put the new seals in, and also had room to pop the old ones in as well. So hopefully that will stop the fluid from going into the tcase. I guess Ill just wait and see.

The rear output yoke also has some pretty deep ridges on the seal surface. I saw one drop on the housing after she drove it, so we shall see. At least that's easy to change.

Never done one of these before, but now I understand them a lot better, and holy crap are they simple.

Tearing it all the way down to a bare case made a bigger job of it but now you know how they work :thumb:

I didn't want to do it again, got the whole seal kit from ORD. Plus now I know all the bearings and internals appeared to be in great shape.

I was waiting for that.

However my plan backfired when she sat in my car and my handprints transferred from Shannon butt to Sonic seat....

The fact they transferred to the Sonic seat makes it even better. Just get it clean before she gets in with a tight ass pair of white dress pants. Or not? Which ever.

Before I forget, does anybody know the thread size on a 10b front yoke? One of the bolts had some bad threads and need to get a new one before she puts it in 4wd and the driveshaft decides to let go...

Aren't they a 7/16" fine thread? I know that doesn't actually answer your question but might help jog someone's memory.

Probably. I more posted so I have something to remind me. As I know I will forget.

Although it does need new u joints so that probably would have reminded me.. By the time I put the shafts back in and realized most of the seals on the axle ends were toast and caps full of rust, it was too late to run for parts... So I packed them full of bearing grease.

Should be 1350 for a 14ff and 1310 for 10b... I think.

That would be convenient as we would have the same spare parts...

Fine thread I can't remember how long but any auto parts store will have a strap kit. I usually replace the straps the same time I replace the bolts.

Also the driveshafts bolts are reduced head I'm pretty sure
