1983 K10, Shannons truck. ***UPDATE POST #418***

Cut her some steel let her practice a bit. If it's a fail have her grind out the welds and do it again.

Don't stop her just cause you can do it better.

This. You want to encourage this learning so that she will become better. Then watch her give you a run for your money! :haha: :thumb:

Surely you can let her do some of it!!! ???
Maybe let her practice some vertical first, but at least let her do the horizontal.

It makes the hobby over 100% better when your significant other is heavily involved as well. Or at least willing to participate a bit more than the wrench getting younger kids.

Been a while.

Shannon was very much looking forward to bringing yellow truck with us to the dunes for camping all weekend.

Last wed night I went out and chopped off the cherry bombs and put some thrush mufflers in, just as a quick fix to meet code for the dunes (must be chambered muffler or have spark arrestor).

Just as I finish I decide to check the u joints quick, and realize the front pinion has about 1/4" of slop in it. With no locker in the rear, and tires that don't squat, there was no way she was making it around in 2wd, so we left it.

She was bummed all weekend, but excited to work on it.

The rear u joints were in bad need of replacing (axle side literally had dust in it and a few chunks of what once were needle bearings) and she knew that, so not 5 minutes after getting back today, she is out ripping the rear driveshaft out.

She did all the work, I just pointed and said how.

This short shorts business in the shop could be an issue though.... :haha:

I welded her exhaust in looking much like that hahahaha.

Proof of pinion destruction.

After looking i found that the stops on the cv were not ground down at all when the truck was lifted, and that the stops basically rub at ride height... So im wondering if that may have killed the bearing.

I have an engine to install in the Anglia this week, but we hope to tear into the front axle by next weekend and see what needs replaced. I plan to do the bearings, but an entire 10b install kit is like $57. Im hoping the gears are ok, but if not they are like $99 for a 10b gear set.

Damn Adam some how she manages to get greasier than you. It's like you two are made for each other :thumb:

That was AFTER cleaning up enough to sit in my car and not get it filthy for a parts run.

I swear she must have hugged the thing at one point :haha:
