1983 K5 trail truck/dd/ R.I.P. 03/14/18

Cool man. Did you keep the stock master cylinder and proportioning valve and all that? Is the rear shaft still a slip joint though?

I had forgotten about your build. :frown1: Apparently six months is enough time for me to forget stuff.

yep, still all stock brake parts and it feels good on the road. and I have a 208 so I'm stuck with the slip yoke for a while.

That's good. I've read on here where some guys say they had to get an adjustable valve because the rear brakes were locking up on them after going from drums to discs. Looks like you lucked up. :thumb:

my wife is giving her car to her sister so she decided she wants to dd my k5.

right now I'm just throwing in a new power steering pump, radiator and I might fix the fuel gauge for her.

in other news I got a new garage! I'm still in the process of organizing but it is awesome to work inside.

Nice! That's the kind of building I want, but in a single car version.

Looks like "Lil' Superman" is excitied about it too.:D

Always go bigger if you can! So if the wife wants to DD a K series. Why not find her a suburban? Easier and cheaper to find than a K5 and you keep yours trail ready.

So you're saying you want me to keep an eye out and maybe add to my stock pile? : thumb:

Oh I've tried sanding, tacking, etc. I sprayed some Plasti-Dip on mine in June and it seems to be holding up so far. I'm sure it would peel off if it decided to though.

not many changes, wife has been driving it to work. she wanted me to paint it purple for her.....I got her new speakers so the radio works instead :haha:. hopefully the sending unit I bought from mastiff shows up today so the tank can go back in.
I threw the led bar from my dodge into the core support.
I have been pulling lots of brush with it.
