1985 D30 M1008 BUILD 52s/37s

Well I did drive it the other day. Wasn't the best maiden voyage but I'll get it fixed up. Shit was leaking everywhere haha

When grinding some rivets I must clipped a fuel hose. Didn't leak till I was a bout 5 miles from home....

I got a dud of a gear box from advanced auto. Had a hairline crack that got worse the farther I drove....

On top of that a brake line decided it's little rust hole wanted to explode behind a mount.

Was not a fun drive back home with no steering and shitty brakes.

So I got the new hard line ran. Bleed them out better this time around also. Brakes seem 100% now

Fixed the fuel line.

Gear box is in a box and getting another one tomorrow.

Much better drive today! Got a few pics. Flexed it out on a dirt pile. Needs lower kingpins rebuilt. Gets a pretty nasty death wobble.

Looks really good. I believe the lower part is just a bearing.

Ya I'll find a couple tomorrow and get it fixed.

Still a long to do list but I'm happy it's drivable.
Also found a a guy a few blocks away parting out a 91 2wd suburban. I snagged a red dash pad, red visors, rear view mirror, and a 3rd row bench to throw in the bed. May go get the steering box as an extra to tap as hydro assist box.

Are you sure it's the lower bearings? That's a much bigger job in comparison to the kingpins.

Yes. I did the bushings and springs. When doing the passenger side I noticed the lower was pretty loose. I should have just done it then

it felt loose with the king pin fully assembled right?

Sometimes the springs need a shim (more preload) even when new.
