1986/73 huge change of plans opinions needed

i would think for any trail riding you would want to go srw instead duals? plus its 2 less tires to buy. lifted duallys look friggin sweet but i think looks comes under functionality in this case.

fiberglass fenders and trails....don't seem like a good idea!

save them fenders for a street project somewhere..are they the same 73-91?

I wouldn`t want a truck that wide for any kind of trail.

JMO. SRW vote for me if you want to wheel it...tow only hell yeah! :thumb:

I say make it a srw also keep it a full 8' bed with the factory bed and a topper. I love the top on my superduty. Also I say the biggest tire should be a 255 or 285 and keep it stock to around a 2" lift for the best all around truck. I wish my superduty was the stock height.

Well you are being smarter than me.
So you want to sell me the jimmy:D

Sure if you want to buy it! I will sell you the rust free body I have too. Just get a load up here we can figure out a way to get it all into the back or your semi. I got a friend with tractors and stuff.

It is funny to see all the different opinions on here but obviously it makes more sense to make it a SRW truck.

Pretty sure thats how I am going to go now. Really won't get started on it till summer anyway, crew cab is in the back yard now no way to really get it around to the garage.

I have been working on cleaning up the 6.2 and will get the 465 out of the bed of the truck along with the 205 here pretty quick and get them cleaned up.

I am pretty set on the flatbed though. I tend to agree that keeping a normal box would be a better looking option. But it is going to be a very large wheeler with a long wheelbase, so the back of the bed will get beat up pretty good too. That is partly the reason for going flatbed.

My plan on running h1 rims is going to stay for now but going to try and get at least 12 bolt rims. Unless I can score some of the 24 bolt ones. Both the 12 bolt and 24 bolt have higher load ratings than the 8 bolt rims.

I hope to keep adding to this thread just to keep me motivated.

And now onto the question, I have found 2 basic flywheels, on rock auto they have AC delco flywheels for near 200 bucks, then the off brand is 130ish.

Worth the money to get the AC delco flywheel? I think no but I have never done anything with these 6.2s and a 465

What was the off brand?? they are both probally made in china might just save the 70 bucks, which would almost get you a new harmonic dampner

Also, what about getting a cheap sammi for a DD???

I have an Idea brewing a "crew cab" sammi with small flatbed on yota axles with turbo 3.8 37" ish rubber

Try to find a long wheel base one! They made pickup style zuk in Australia, called em Sierras.

Yah the thought has crossed my mind but zuks have gotten alot more expensive down here and that is just money that could be going toward the crew cab or to Horton.

I realize my methodology might not make sense to some but when your on a tight budget and you wanna do something right it just takes a bit more time
