1986 GMC 3+3 dually build.- cummins swap.. Round 2, 2024 update.

How big are the spacers in the rears again?

Can you post up pics of the rear tires from behind to show the gap?

Well it has been a little over one year since I had built this dream truck, and I am very happy to say that its still so much fun to drive! I have driven it about 4800miles in the past year. I did not drive it in the winter much unless it was dry out. I didnt drive in the super hot days of summer, no AC, but any chance its cool out, I was in it. It has worked really well for me so far, no issues, and I have even done a little upgrading.

The transfer case got rebuilt, this was the biggest thing I have done, it has made a HUGE difference, no longer is the drivetrain louder than the exhaust. I have also added mudflaps.

Future plans, get a tach, get a pyro, get the AC working, hurculine the bed before winter and repaint my roof.

Drove 5hours to philadelphia to help move my girlfriend back home.. no AC and 100degrees... so fun!

I went to a few car shows, lots of positive feedback.

Rebuilt the tcase.. this was a fun time.

Waxed up and looking good!

x2 on probably my favorite truck one here. You should get some good quality pics and put in for the calendar.

How many days did it take you to wax a crew cab dually? :haha:

thanks man, that really does mean a lot, makes all the hours and time worth it! I will have to see what I can do for the calendar.

Truck looks awesome, was wondering how it tows with the shackle flip? Im trading for a 89 2wd crewcab dually and was going to start collecting parts to swap it to 4wd.

Just read through the entire thread.
Great job on the conversion, and the truck is awesome. I would love to find a dually crew cab 4x4.

thanks! Honestly.... i dont know how it tows..:doah: no money for a trailer! opppss. However friends do have shackle flips and they have no issues. Many people on here are in the same boat. No issue.

well i seem to have come across an issue... my rear seal was leaking in the driver side. I pop off the hub and this is what i find....

:eek1::eek1::eek1::eek1::eek1::eek1::eek1:

So.. in my discussions with friends.. i have determined I would like to replace this axle.. what you say ck5? i dont think i can trust this on my truck.. i have not towed with it yet.. just makes me nervous!

yes! and my bearings were fine just a bad hub seal. When I re did the truck last year i never touched the rear brakes.. they were working great so no biggie.. but damn!

well it took 1hour to cut out of the junk truck and 3.5hours to load it into my truck... just normal floor jack and some spare tires/blocks.. man that sucked! Anyways.. here is my replacement axle, time to get the wire wheel out again and clean it up, toss the brakes on it and in my truck. Biggest challenge is the lug nuts are so rusted i cant get half off.. hence the tires still on there! My impact doesnt wanna take a half of them off.. oh the joys of winter builds.
