1986 GMC 3+3 dually build.- cummins swap.. Round 2, 2024 update.

How bad was the fifth gear to weld, something I need to do was wondering if it could be done while its still in the truck.

Mine is 2wd so all I gotta do is pop the rear housing off. I haven't welded it yet my friend w the tig wasn't around

so i tore into the dana 60, painted it, and i hope to have it all set and rebuilt new bearings, rotors, studs, kingpins by this sunday, and a coat of black paint...

I also got temp plates on it to get vin verification! Drove it around with some new gas and seems to work "great" well great enough for my first big block that i havent ever touched!

Just enjoying cruising in it for now.

These will most likely be the last week of it in one piece... come April 6th i am have a week off, then spending my april vaca 4wd swaping, wiring wheeling the frame, ripping the motor out/trans, putting the 60 in, shackle flip in the rear...

its going to be a lil tricky with my broken thumb tho...

Dang all that in a week and broken thumb. You better have a serious helper around. That doesnt include a kid or the wife if you have either. I say awesome. I dig your ingenuity.

That does REALLY blow but if you "F" it up during healing it could ruin your wrenching days for life. Just saying. I always think about how long something will heel and affect me later.:dunno:

Ya no worries I live for mountain biking so I won't hurt it. I'm getting real good wrenchin lefty n being very creative when it comes to hving to use my right hand

I decided to come home from work and get the 60 prepped for assembly in the morning, my brother developed this technique for popping the 650lbs or whatever that torque spec is for the king pins... works really well!

I installed the rotors and studs, painted the hubs, new bearing races installed as well... everythings going back together in the morning.

Update on the build... so far I put the 60 back together, just waiting on a steering arm for xover.

I also got my DIY4X shackle flip and repainted my friends old DIY4X front shackle mount, as well as re-painted the tuff country ez-rides that will join the front end.

Sooooo onto some real stuff... i have finally sold my big block that was in the truck...horraay now i can order my clutch. I figured this was a fitting way to say goodbye to the big block.

check out the video!!!
