1987 V20 Suburban 350TBI/SM465

Change that stabilizer. It doesn't work, probably leaked out along time ago. Plus it is interfering with smooth steering.
Service the trans. Get it warm drain the the oil and refill. Use a good 80w90 or 75w90.
As for your rear door leak how well do your doors open and close? The seals will help if original. Mine was also leaking from the rear side windows, old seals.

The replacement stabilizer arrives today! I couldn't find 80w-90 GL4 locally (small town) so I have some arriving tomorrow from Amazon. I'll do the trans service this weekend.

Cargo doors open and close easily. No rattles. I was crawling around back there some more and notices water along the seals for the long windows too. I'm thinking I should also replace all the window seals in the rear while I'm at it. $400 later from LMC...I'll have to look around for something more affordable

If you can get Precision brand. I got my last from Gmcapuals.
But you can find on rockauto.
Both venders are Blazer Bash sponsors iirc.

A wire brush cup on an angle grinder or in an electric drill will make the work go a lot quicker. Wear eye/face protection, gloves and tuck in your shirt. I've had my shirt caught and it's no picnic.

I've got some wire brush cups for my drill. Have face shield and metal working clothing. Learned my lesson after catching my shirt on fire while welding...:waytogo:

I’m out here replacing door seals and windows channels and have a whole pile of other new parts and my girlfriend says “you’re going to end up with a brand new truck by the time you’re done”.

I think she’s on to me :rotfl:

Well progress has been slow. Steering stabilizer is replaced. Huge difference! Got my 2nd row door/window seal kit from summit. It didn’t come with anything for the small fixed windows but I got the felt and channels replaced and the door seal on the passenger side. Couldn’t get the damn sill plate off on the drivers side because the screw heads are just rusted and stripped enough. Any suggestions?

The front door kit arrived today so I’ll get that in tomorrow. Still need to find/order the kit for the cargo doors/windows and the long side windows. After those are installed I can start on repairing the cargo floor.

Replacement seatbelts for the front and rear are in the garage. Rear doesn’t have shoulder belts and the fronts are falling apart. Those go in this weekend.

ORD is finally shipping my order minus the socks. Those will come from the mfg soon I hope. But the zero rates and front shackles arrive Wednesday and get installed with the new factory springs this weekend. Bummer I’ll have to wait in the shocks but at least I’ll be able to get my tires installed.

And at some point I need to work on the kilmat in the roof.

No just a regular impact and a drill. But if I need one I have for one picked out :waytogo:

I’ll order it now. Is it worth having a motor driven impact driver?
