1989 Crew Cab Tow Rig Build

I do think the aluminum work fine, I just noticed they deformed a lot in my truck.

You need to take your crew cab to a local CAT scale and tell me what it weighs.

I have been very interested to know what this thing weighs. I also just picked up a new passenger side fuel tank (to get 40 gal capacity back) and plan to probably swap that in this coming weekend. When I do that, I'll fill both tanks up and try to go find a scale to run it across.

Then today, I finally was able to meet up with Josh at Team 208 Motorsports to do some tuning on my 8.1. And all I gotta say is wow...he really woke this thing up! It pulls VERY hard, especially in 2nd and 3rd gear, enough to be very impressive, especially the feeling in the seat. I have a small exhaust leak that I need to get fixed that we think is messing with the O2 reading a bit, so once I get that fixed we will do one more small fine tuning session to make sure everything is squared away, but man as of right now, this thing is a beast. I couldn't keep my foot out of it on the way home. My two oldest boys said, "Dad, this thing feels like a race truck now!" haha.

A few more things I want to get squared away on this thing, but I'm very happy with it right now

That is something I need to do on my crew cab. My brand new little crate 350 I put in my truck with a slightly heated up cam, bigger CFM TBI, and a stock OBD1/ECM feels like it wants to make more power, but something is holding it back.

I recommend contacting Josh at Team 208 Motorsports. He does TBI tunes too, and is very knowledgeable with them. My brother built a pretty healthy 383 with a pretty steep cam and very free flowing heads that he put into his crawler. He ended up slapping a 454 TBI unit on there. Josh ended up sending him some basic bin files to start with and then my brother finished off the rest of the fuel trims in the tune to get it to run. But Josh is a really good guy. If you give him some background on the motor and what you are looking for, he will point you in the right direction

I have Tuner Pro R/T with all the proper files to interface with my ECM. I will do some data logging, and have that info for tuning to look at.

That's perfect. That's exactly what my brother for his 383 did too. Made it super easy for Josh to know what to do/change

That bike is pretty cool. I had a few of Suzuki RM motocross bikes back in the late 70,s to early-80's. Back then they where 2-stroke screamers. The Suzuki RM may not have always been the best handling bike on the market back then, but they where guaranteed the fastest bike right off the show room floor.

I've been riding dirt bikes since I was 3. I have actually never gone a time in my lift since I was 3 that I didn't have a dirt bike in my possession. I love riding bikes and my kids absolutely love it too. It's a fun family activity.

I would say Suzuki's are opposite of what they were back then. Nowadays this bike I bought is considered the best cornering bike on the market. The ergonomics of it are top notch. The motor is not the fastest or makes the most power of the class, but still, being a 450 four stroke, lets just say there hasn't been a time that I have said, "I need more power out of this thing", haha. This is my first Suzuki I've owned (had Honda's, Kawi's, and Yamaha's before), but the main reason why I bought it was the price. Being that it was a brand new bike from the dealership (just 1 model year older) and I bought it for almost 1/2 the price of what the newest model other brand bikes are going for. When I found out I could do that, I put my 2008 CRF450 for sale, sold it in 2 weeks, and went and bought this thing :saweet:

Went and broke in the new bike, and let the kids ride their dirt bike (part of my oldest son's birthday present...he wanted to go ride bikes).

And went and picked up the first of many new fencing materials to build some new fences around our house.

That is all

Don't forget, one truck thing you could do is weight it..... :D

Yeah I know. Didn't have enough time to get the other tank installed yet, I want to do that and have both tanks full before I weight it

@mrk5 I weighed my Ferd this weekend. With the camper I was 21,500 lbs. That should put my truck full of 6 people and some camping stuff at about 8k and the trailer at 13,500 lbs. Not apples for apples but I was happy to know what it weighed loaded.

Nice score on the 450 even though it's the wrong color ;)

You know what's funny is I read so many reviews (and watched all the shootouts for the 2017 450's) and so many people dog the RMZ for so many nit-picky little things. But man, I couldn't be happier with this bike so far. Runs nice and smooth with great power. I'm no pro motocross rider (nor do I want to be), I just want a dependable bike that runs real good for the best price I can get...and so far this yellow bike is filling the need for sure.

Dang man, that's pretty heavy. The Cummins is weighing it down :D

Yeah it is and also the only reason I was able to tow it up a mostly 6% mtn at around 40-45 mph for a good 30+ miles.
