1989 Crew Cab Tow Rig Build

Haven't been on CK5 in a while... Just catching up on all your projects. The 8.1 is awesome! And I still can't get over your tube work on the rockwell rig. Unreal!

I'll be glad when I have time and the budget to work on mine again. Still finishing up projects around the house. Super jealous of the dunes trip, btw. One day I'll make it out west to ride with you, and I'll bring the K5 and the 450 :saweet:

Thanks! That would be epic. And I’m totally game for a 2 wheel and 4 wheel adventure. Just let me know when and I’ll be there :waytogo:

That green truck has gotta be quite the load to haul around!

It’s actually not terrible. It does feel heavier than the blazer back there, but not significantly heavier by any means. My guess is the blazer is closer to 6000 lbs, and the C4 is probably more like 7400 lbs. There’s a steeper hill coming home from that trail that I just dropped it into 3rd and let the 8.1 sing to about 4K rpm and it pulled fantastic. Maintained 55 mph up it (which was the speed limit on that road) without much trouble. And since I swapped to 5200 lb axles on the trailer with the little bigger breaks on both axles, stopping isn’t an issue at all. So it was pretty comfortable towing really
