1989 Crew Cab Tow Rig Build

Had to use the crew cab to take some stuff to the dumps, and I still have the 35’s on it from the burban from when I swapped them to take the burb to Utah...and my goodness does this thing look right on 35’s. Makes me think the 35’s should stay on this and I should put 37’s on the burb

they do look pretty good on there, go get some 37s and throw them on the burb so we can see what it looks like :pimp1:

Took the truck with my camper in the back for a quick trip with a couple buddies to St. Anthony sand dunes to ride some dirt bikes for a few day. Was a really fun awesome trip. Staying in the camper was super comfortable. It’s been pretty hot at my house for the last few weeks (just over 100*) and I still don’t have A/C in this truck, so with all 4 windows down rolling 75 mph down the freeway it was still pretty hot. But when I got closer to Twin Falls it actually cooled down a bit and the weather at the dunes was mild and great for the weekend. Truck ran great the whole time. Got 10.5 mpg’s the whole time.

I used the swing arm mount for one trip and had enough of the constant snapping. Mine is in the rear fender sandwiched between a couple big washers now.

Crew cab is still the champ. Tows the blazer so good. Another bonus of this trip was getting to see my brother take his new Toterhoe on its first real long haul trip since he got done with it. The thing is absolutely ridiculous.

Is that a suburban body on a Kodiak chassis with the Kodiak front clip?

It started life as a Ford short wheelbase Pepsi truck. Had an 8.3 Cummins with an Allison trans. My brother scrapped the cab, stretched the frame, added a Tahoe body (with a 3rd row seat in the back) and Top Kick front clip. He also added an Axletech T600 tcase and plans to make it 4wd (already has the front axle, just needs to swap it in). So it seats 8 and can haul 2 rigs comfortably. It’s a pretty wild setup, but he pulled it off really well. He is still thinking he may put a camper on the back, making his own Toterhome, but with a Tahoe, hence the name “Toterhoe” ;)

Haven't been on CK5 in a while... Just catching up on all your projects. The 8.1 is awesome! And I still can't get over your tube work on the rockwell rig. Unreal!

I'll be glad when I have time and the budget to work on mine again. Still finishing up projects around the house. Super jealous of the dunes trip, btw. One day I'll make it out west to ride with you, and I'll bring the K5 and the 450 :saweet:
