1989 Diesel Jimmy. What do we have here hmmmm

More than likely you will never have to touch it again.

Dean I am blaming this completely on you.

Somehow somewhere I put something in not the correct order problably the cancel cam and spring I am thinking.

Well it broke the turn signal switch :angry1::angry1::angry1::angry1::angry1::angry1::angry1::angry1::angry1: again.

So no brake lights no turn signals. Heading to the autoparts store at 7:30 to get one so I can be ready to use the Jimmy to tow Horton tomorrow.

Totally Deans fault I would say, I didn't start putting the column back together until after I read his comment

So small update. This truck needed ball joints as soon as I got it. But I had a line on a set of 10 bolts with 4.56s in em. Took me a while to get those. Then took me a while to get em in. I didn't want to buy ball joints for the old axle.

The above is the reason.

The consequence of course is 2 screwed up tires. They weren't the best anyway cupped a bit but not bad.

So I have 2 decent tires and 2 not so good. I also have 12" wide rims which are LAME.

Going on a snow run this weekend with the Jimmy. Getting 2 baja claws from a buddy of mine. Taking my 2 best tires and getting those 2 claws and my 2 tires on some 8" wide rims a buddy is trading to me.

Should have some pics up here soon.

An interesting aside. Horton and my Jimmy fit in one side of my garage and I can still shut the door. Horton is touching my work bench and the Jimmy and Horton are touching and dang near touching the door. But both are in the garage on one side :D:D

The other side currently contains a 2001 Chevy I am doing some gears on

Another thing when you haven't had windsheild wipers that work for a while its dang cool when they do work.

Next minor issue on the Jimmy get the cruise control working again.

Sometime here soon Kristle is going to take a week off work. Probably in Jan or Feb, the turbo motor swap will happen then

Good to hear Erik. I have my rig wrapped in a tarp sitting outside. Next spring can't come soon enough. I really need a second shop asap. My wife gets one side of the garage, the mower, quad and tools take up the other. There is some stupid rule that I am only alowed 1 out building where I live, so why waste money on a small shed if I just have to knock it down in a few months when the barn goes up. Glad things are going good. I am still thinking late January or early Feb to come out there skiing.

Jess just keep me updated on when you are coming out.

Yah its nice having a big garage, but I still plan on building onto it to house Horton. That will give my wife back a place to park.

Ideally I would have a shed for the lawnmower and stuff ( its tarped right now) in addition to the new part of the garage.

We are certainly a different group of people. Having a garage or shop with as much square footage as our house only makes sense to us

So some of you may know I have a front 60 sitting in my garage.

My buddies Dad is looking for a 60.

The Jimmys tires are about done. I got 2 baja claws in the 35" variety from my good friend Jon. Its his Dad looking for the front 60.

So I made the deal with Jons Dad for the 60, will give me enough money to buy 2 brand new baja claws and some used 10" wide rims.

Not really what I wanted to do but my other tires are very very hammered.

The Jimmy is my daily driver. So that really cements the decision to get a 14 bolt sf 6 lugger.

Anyone should have some pics tomorrow cause I am ready to wheel!!!!

So no real problems today.

Putting the good tires on the front axle makes for a pretty solid lesson in vehicle dynamics.

In 4wd the back end was all over the place. Put the new baja claws on the front, my old crappy tires on the back.

Even on flat ground in 2 wd ( in the snow) I couldn't get going, thats how bad my rear tires are.

Snow was not deep at all.

We hit the southwest corner of Yellowstone park.

First stop was a place called Cave falls. Called such because there are several caves behind the falls.

Its about 250' wide.

On the Henrys Fork.

Second destination was Sheep falls.

I have never been there before pretty cool because a huge rock in the middle of the river splits the river. So on one side you have a very calm river on the other side you have a 75' tall falls.

Its hard to actually see the size

So this is the pic from the very start of the falls

going downstream and literally just feet after the first pic it makes its big drop. This is the best pic I could get of it

Next pic is still following downstream

.

There is a pretty decent falls on the other side too but we couldn't really see it.

Only pic I got of the rigs (you can just see the Jimmy in this pic) snow wheeling you don't really stop much to take pics.

Good day

Just because I can't remember...what tires did you have before?

I'm familiar. For some reason I kept thinking you had 37" HMMWV radials on it but then that didn't seem correct.

I may have talked about them. It is what I was planning on running. But as things change and I realize how capable a pretty close to stock blazer is. Horton is a highly capable wheeler, the Jimmy is to be used for mild trail rides. Even tougher trail rides.

So when I got the 60 I planned on 37s and tons. Now its a 6 lug sf ( I have talked about this since the beginning) 14 b.

It won't get any bigger than a 35 for while now. I think after I get the 6 lug 14 b I will start really working on suspension. Going to start to add an subtract leaves from the front end to get it down a couple inches, hopefully make it ride nicer. Do some 63s out back. Get some decent shocks. It will beat you up pretty good off road.

In all reality the first order of business is to get the turbo motor in.

Then better rear axle

Then get the other body in the garage get the full vert top on, and put that body on the frame

Ride in 2INSANE Blazer before you do 63's, you wont like it. I don't its too soft and wobblely, way different then mine, must be wheelbase difference.

Those pictures are great! I can almost hear the roar!
Ever get to your cruise yet? Just did mine and was surprised the neutral safety switch was my bad spot after I swapped the column stalk out. Little crummy tab that drops in the column notch keep bending up. No reverse lights was the give away. ECM had no idea what gear truck was in. :doah:

Just add or subtract leaves. There are at least 4 different spring packs of 63s I have found in wrecking yards. So yours might be a thicker pack and his might be the 3 leaf pack I have seen in half tons.

I have done 63s in Toyotas, Fords, Chevys and even in a Dodge. It was easy to tune them.

I haven't messed around with it yet. I have reverse lights though. It may be something different

I love my 63's. They are not spongey, actually quite firm, but not as firm as my old super lift springs.
