1989 Diesel Jimmy. What do we have here hmmmm

Glad it worked out, and was relatively simple to get rid of the DW. Sucks not having a garage. This place we moved to in Edmonton is the first I've had an enclosed garage. My biggest challenge is heat, and a lack of 220 power...but I'm indoors and have 24 x 24 to work with.

This, I went from workin outside to a 16x36 garage. Forgot what it's like to be out of the elements while wrenchin :waytogo:

How's the locker and gearing combo working out for ya?

I kind of forgot how ummmm active loc rites are lol. It's great. I need to get the side gear shims replaced. They were worn so the locker acts a little weird sometimes. Gearing is lovely. At the 6300 ft elevation I live at nothing helps much other than a turbo.

I am still chasing a couple vibes.

I need to get a sye and a new rear driveshaft. A new slip yoke driveshaft is dang near 600 from Tom woods.

It's slowly getting there

Been a while since an update.

Been driving the crap out of this thing. Vibrations leaks and all.

Something is messed up with the locker. Can't figure it out.

Was having t case issues but Greg Ducato hooked a fat kid up with a spring and those are gone.

Couple of observations. The mtr style surplus tires SUCK on ice. Hydroboost has terrible brake feel. Lockers even when not working right are fun on ice. But occasionally scare me.

Any to bring this up to date. I broke down yesterday.

I have a leaky injector. Well leaky isn't the word. Spewing is more appropriate term. With slightly further inspection I beleive I have 4 leaking a tiny bit

My motor has over 400k on it. Basically it's time to ditch this motor.

I need to put together my other 6.2 that has a banks turbo kit on it. Along with installing the 6.5 serpentine setup. While in there I need to replace my brake master cylinder and fuel filter housing. Both leak. And at least one hydroboost hose.

Not sure if I can get all that fixed this go around. Close. I was saving money for a new rear driveshaft but that's gonna have to get pushed even further back.

So stay tuned motor swap coming soon

Do you have a replacement filter housing?

I have a hx35, a 40 might be a little big, be sure to have the marks on the IP lined up or slightly retarded. It made a HUGE difference on boost lag on my 6.2. Also may want to replace the rear mine now as mine blew shortly after.

Nothing that exciting. Nope just a banks turbo on a lower milage motor. Ordered gaskets today

Yep and not messing with it. Gonna change to spin on filters

Cool.

Which filter are you going with? My K10 (being an '83) came with the factory spin-on setup, and I have converted my '84, using a (different) base from one of the members on here. No complaints thus far, and it seems like it should be more reliable. I've heard a few anecdotes around here that seem to support this.

Ethan not sure been looking at a couple. Even the newer stock setup.

Here be my engine

Engine looks purdy. :thumb:

This is what I ended up using for my conversion (you'll even find pictures of my setup toward the end of the thread). https://ck5.com/forums/threads/stanadyne-fm100-fuel-filter-kits.313521/#post-3450359

The first post says he's sold out, but it's far enough back that I'd check in with him if interested. I thought he had a good deal, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was a bolt-on affair.

What I am selling is the header and 6 filters(yes they block water too) for $67.50 shipped

The fancier version is here:

But there are other options out there if he is sold out.

Once I get a quick trailer extension done I will have about 400 bucks to get a gasket set. Water pump. New thermostat. The filter and a couple gaskets for the trans. 2 new hydroboost hoses and a new master cylinder and I just noticed brake fluid coming out of a front brake line. So add that.

Hopefully that's all lol. I can't get all that for 400 but I can come close

Yeah, I think you're stretching the dollars pretty thin to get all that for $400. It will be interesting to see how close you come.

This conversation has reminded me that I still have 2 more of those filter bases (and 17 cartridges) sitting in a box. I'd be willing to give you one if it would be useful to ya. I plan to put one on the CUCV (eventually), but I don't have an immediate use for the 3rd one. Any interest?
