1989 Diesel Jimmy. What do we have here hmmmm

I have an 85 body that is completely rust free and the seat mounts are in good shape. :wink1: I know the guy that brought it to me and I'm sure he could find a way to get it to you. :haha:

That guy has thought about it. But that guy never wants to have to go through loading and unloading that thing again.

It would be less work to get the other body I have cleaned out and ready to go.

Good grief that trip was a bad one for me :doah:

Yeah, you couldn't even make it out of my front yard without losing a tire. No worries, I just wanted to have some fun with you since I don't make it to the site much anymore.

So, as of today I no longer have a rust free body. Blazer addict picked it up and hauled it away. I have to say, I was sad seeing it leave but at the same time I am very happy knowing it went to a good home and will be put to use.

Oh, and he has the loading thing down to a science. I think it took about 45 minutes to get it loaded onto his trailer.

Glad to see it is going to a good thing. That body tub was cursed for me to use it. I would have probably blown up on the way home if I had come got it

I am glad as well, even though it finally set in that it is the end of my Blazer. One way or another Krusty is done. Looks like I might have someone interested in buying her, should know tomorrow.

Who knows, maybe someday I can get another Blazer, although I think at this point I'm far more likely to go for a 91 Crew Cab.

HOLY GEEZ no one should have that feeling. I knew my seat mounts were cracked and not so good but didn't realize that bad.

I hit a bump today and got reclined a couple inches time to do something about it I suppose

This one had been repaired ( poorly ) at least

And here is the inside rear mount, we shall call it the auto recline mount

When I read this all I could think was ........

We are preparing for landing please return seat back at tables to their full and upright positions.:haha:

so no update for a while on this thread.

Thought I might throw one in there.

I have too much money going to many different directions to do alot of what I have talked about. For instance a 14 b sf 6 lug has not fallen into my lap. I had a deal worked out on one but someone offered to buy his whole truck for more than he was going to ask so can't hold that against a guy.

So anyone got 4.56s for a 10 bolt used? I need a set:D Time to get this thing back to a 4wd.

So 10 bolts staying for now.

I pickup up another set of springs, thought they were 4" they aren't they are 6" pro comps none the less. Gonna try to sell both my super lift 6" ( part number 01235) and those pro comps and pick up a spring that actually has some give to it.

I can't find the spring rate for my superlifts but they pro comps are over 500 lbs/inch. The superlifts ride like CRAP.

So tuff country ez rides? Tuff country HDs? BDS? Those are about the only 3 that seem to universally receive positive comments. The Jimmy is a diesel and will eventually have a winch on it

I feel like such a newb here but I have never actually bought a lift kit for my own stuff. Its always been using 52s or 56s or Dodge springs. Or whatever I got for free.

So gotta get to selling and then on will go some 2.5 to 4" lift springs in the front, military surplus bilsteins, and gonna put some 63s out back. Same military surplus bilsteins out back. Build some shackles and redrill the front perch to move the axle an inch forward and Bobs your Uncle.

I really want to get it low and then clock the t case up. Daily driver and I am getting tired of jumping in and out of it. Plus Bailey has ruined both door straps pulling herself in.

Other than that just been driving the thing.

Took it on a 600 mile or so round trip, averaged 19 mpg between 60 and 70 mph.

Gotta get a turbo on this sometime in the near future. But like I said too many projects to really get much done on the Jimmy for now. Its time will come though

Fill me in on "military surplus bilsteins"??? Also, I have tuff country hd 4 inch springs in the front of my m1009 and it's kind of bouncy. Plus I think the pass side sags a little because of the dual batteries (annoys the hell out of me)

My 89 k5 trail rig used to have 4" tuff country EZ rides and I thought that rode a little better on the road. But I was worried about the weight of the deisel killing a set of EZ rides so that why I went with the HD springs in the m1009

Our military surplus has a ton of bilsteins, yellow body, blue boot, they use huge shock eyes but can be bushed down. I have seen em used on Toyotas they work well. Little stiff so on the full size they should work well. The ones I was looking at are 12" travel and they are 20 bucks each. Other than that I don't know anything about em.

So you like your Hds? The Jimmy is all about daily driving and mild wheeling. I want to be alot more comfortable than I am now. Those superlifts I have are terrible, feels like I am driving a one ton truck with an add a leaf lift ( had a buddy who did his truck like this)

I just put the tc hd's on my 91 crew with a bb. The whole shebang ways in at @11k lbs with the camper and it feels about right for what it is. I would have put ez rides on but I plan on putiing a cooler rack on the front. hope that helps. scott

You can't beat $20. Let me know how you like them. I may need shocks sometime soon. I don't mind the ride all that much, it's my daily driver and I spend nearly 2hrs a day driving. My wife hates it though lol. I kinda want to take the swaybar off and see how it affects the way it rides.

For off-road performance I can't really tell ya. I have only taken the truck off-road once and that was just to pull out two trucks that got stuck in a swamp.

I will let you know how the surplus shocks work dude. Hopefully be changing the suspension around here soon and thats when I am gonna put the shocks on.

So just ordered a set of Kennedy quick heats. Seemed like a toss up between them and the 60gs.

Kennedys won out because they heat quicker with the stock controller which I still have.

Suppose I should have not waited till the day time temps were in single digits to do this:doah:

BTW they are on sale right now 69 bucks for a set of 8.

Oh and I will finally be 4x4 again. After looking for a 14 bolt SF I decided to go 8 lug, I can usually find 8 lug axle for free. So until a set falls in my lap I am going to gear the 10 bolt. ( I have mismatched gears)

Got gears and install kit for 170ish. Well I got em for a couple hours worth of work on a car. Guy really needed it done and he offered to get the gears and install kit for me. Pretty good wage really:D:D:D

Looking forward to being 4x4 again

Still haven't gotten around to doing gears.

The Jimmy has been the daily driver for the past month or so.

I broke a stud off on the exhaust manifold of my car and my head was not feeling awesome so we were just using the Jimmy.

I have the new Kennedy quick heats in there. Well I have 7 of them in. One glow plug would not come out at all. They are stellar, if I have to buy a new set every couple of years I will be fine with that. Starts plenty easy in temps down to single digits. Hasn't really been colder than that round here. Forget to plug it in plenty of nights so it has started like that no being plugged in. No problems.

I had my starter rebuilt before I switched the glow plugs so it had a super hard life for about a week.

Well Friday last my wife called me and said the Jimmy isn't starting. Great that means zero running cars in my household. Went and got the trailer and a buddys truck and got the Jimmy. Had a buddy come over and help me with the grand prix. Got it running.

Today was mess around with the Jimmy, pulled the starter and I find this

No wonder it wouldn't start. Gonna go to the place I had it rebuilt and ask him if he can fix it. I realize it was the abuse I put the truck through that started this and if I have to pay for it fine.

So hopefully do the gears sometime next week.

Will be nice to have 2 running rigs in the household again

Took it back to the local starter place today they crimped another connecter on and tested it. Gonna go put it in right now
