1990 crew cab.. Tow rig?

The only reason I don't go buy the 8.1 is I have 4 complete running 6.0 swap donors and another 4 complete 6.0 engines.

The box is actually in good shape.

And, I would love 44s!

What do you really plan to use the truck for? If you really plan to use it for more towing...I would go 8.1. If going to be a fun rig or something that you build to replace your blazer....then I would use one of your many 6.0's

Are not 3.55's going to be a bit high for a 6.0 and an overdrive transmission?

Martin

Depends on tire size....but knowing how we all go with bigger tires, then I would say yes it would be too high. If he's running 245's, then it should be good (but highly doubtful :D)

Yeah, I'll probably end up going with 4.10s. And i won't ever be towing anything heavier than my blazer, so a 6.0 should be plenty.

There probably won't be much for updates for a couple months as I am working 3 hours away from home and some weekends.

Sounds like a 6.0 will do you fine. And enough extras you can have fun with the skinny pedal and not worry about blowing engines.

Haha, my dad and I are always buying vehicles from Pepsi, and on copart, and Facebook groups. I keep a lot of stuff that I think I'll use later. So far I've got about enough projects to keep me busy for the next 15 years :D
I'm sure having the space helps too. I'd be like you but the wife and I already have 4 vehicles and a trailer between us, and we live in suburbia, no storage facilties.

I wouldn't give you a hand full of dog shit for a 6.0. you better at least gear it 4.10s but I would go 4.56s.

I think 4.10s will be fine, and I Have several Dana 70s with disc brakes and 4.10s already.

If you already have them and in good shape, it's worth a try. Easy enough to swap back out for deeper gears if you need to later on. And free for now since you already have them.

It's weird. My Dad and brother own a Lawn and Landscape company, and have about 4-5 trucks with 6.0's in them. 2 of those trucks can barely pull their own weight, and the other 2 pulled harder than my old 8.1. So make sure you use a good 6.0 :haha:

I towed with that setup for a while, the 4.10's were OK, not ideal by any means. I should mention that I was on a 285 tire as well.

It won't be like the 550whp one going in my van, but it'll have plenty of power ;)

My van towed an 8000lb pickup back at 75 on the interstate with 3.73s I expect this to make a little more power, should be fine. It'll also be my daily, I'd rather have better mileage not pulling than every once in a while when I am.

I am just saying my pile of shit 8.1 pulled 10k in fertilizer last week but struggles with my truck, but what do I know.
