As i posted earlier i ordered the wrong window motor...

after getting quite discouraged i went and had a smoke and thought to myself my motor may be dirty and gross but still making noise. So i hooked up the new cable
new cable
AAANd the window went down!
window open
I was so happy to see it move, the previous owner had never opened it, so it was quite the crap shoot to see if it was seized or not.. but judging by the cable being shot i hoped that was the reason. The motor works quite well actually, no loud noises or shuttering, it is a bit stressfull on the truck sometimes as i do have a draw somewhere and im only getting about 9-13V, 13 if its a good day
WIRE DISASTER
( thatll be another part of the thread...) or it wont be if i just pay someone to rip it all out n make it stock again.
anywho
So i got the window open, now it was time to try and see if the tailgate opened.. It didnt. I had read about the safety switch for the window and tailgate scenario.. with not too much luck i finally got a little rougher pushing the metal down and got the safety to engage on both sides.. Then i opened the tail gate... It sounded like the titanic was sinking.

It took quite a bit of effort to get it down but once i was down i was happy to see that my tail pan wasnt absolutely messed up, just the typical amount you would expect.
once it was down i started immediately ripping up carpet, like a good k5 owner should.
ripping up carpet
I got out a can of white lithium grease and sprayed it in the hinges and worked the tailgate up and down for about 15 minutes, applying more grease as i went along. I finally got it to go up and down without much noise or resistance, its still a little stiff getting it to latch fully shut but thats fine with me

.
Once i got the carpet out i decided to take a look at the bed floor, that metal tab that ran along the seem of the carpet at the tailgate had a bunch of stripped screws. So i set the phillips in the screw with a hammer and they all came out except one that took some rusty metal with it. I dont know how anyone thought all these layers of crap were a good idea...
tailgate finally OPEN
tailgate clean!
trruck bed clean
Once i had it cleaned up i tackled the outer window seal which came from LMC, I did order and inside one too, but im not too fond of the tab system they come with and i also noticed my inside one was in decent shape.
little ****ty tabs
The little recessed holes the tabs sit in were quite rusty, but i did my best.. Only broke one of them..

but i got it back in and in the meantime i noticed the "new" maco crap paint job coming off at the window seal, and it looks like they didnt even use primer... They painted every bit of trim and even my gas cap... I really wish i could find that missile for the previous owner...
After i got the bed cleaned up and vacuumed, i decided to install the new front lights i also got from LMC. The daytime running lights on mine were very foggy and burnt up, they had white bulbs in them also so they didnt do much. These are the new ones compared to the old.
new light compared to old
And they came with amber bulbs that i ordered which was a good combo.
new bulbs
So with a few bolts and some screws i got the grill and lights off.. for some reason there was 2 torx bit screws holing the light part of the grill on... made me a bit loopy having to dig out 3 screw drivers to get the grill off but it came off. and the new bulbs and lights went on as easy as the old ones came off.
nw lights installed2
new lights installed
Im glad they finally look how they are supposed to, Next ones will be the side turning lights as they look tinted.. or some stupid crap like that..
