1990 K5 - The Dent Side K5

90 K5 Blazer on tons and 37’s
Link mounts are in!

Ended up having to buy more DOM for the lower links. The ones ORD sent are pretty short. We ended up moving the link mounts further back and re worked the transmission crossmember (needed to do a tube one anyway for the magnum/205) and trimmed the body mount to clear.

Yea, not too bad. Only had to notch the front and back of the body mount to make it a sharper 90* cut. Will throw some gussets on to be safe. The link mounts are the “mid clearance” option.

The original crossmember was totally in the way so that was cut out. Going with a universal tube style now.

I wish I would have extended the link mounts and built it into a cross member for the trans. But it works, why fix it?

Well the way everyone’s trans crossmembers are coming loose lately I’d say don’t do that lol
Mine has never come loose…. But……..
I’ve been chasing my frames desire to crack right next to the rear link mount brackets. I’ve already got a big x-member tying them together. I need to get that area tied to the cage.

Yeaaaaaa my crossmember was loose too on the passenger side. And the frame was cracked all the way through the bottom of the C channel frame on the drivers side where it mounted. Super awesome and reassuring.

We have found 6 frame cracks so far. Probably a good thing it’s getting plated front/rear and tied into the cage now. I probably had one trip left before the front passenger frame separated at the arch for the front axle.

Happy we are all in this together with these things haha

Anti rock sway bar, 2.5 16” coilovers, and 2.5 air bumps are ordered for the rear. Going to be running the coilovers as just shocks for now. The rear 4 link will happen down the road after the engine swap next year.

Signed up to run jeepers jamboree at Rubicon in July. Targeting a shake down run at the end of April.

Picking up this same setup from ORD literally Monday so paying close attention

Jealous you already have the rear linked and a LS. Planning on that route in the next couple years after wheeling the piss out of it once it’s done.

How do you like your treps?

Treps are awesome, I run bias plys so they squish more, but they perform amazing. Loud on the road but any good off road tire is.
