1990 K5 - The Dent Side K5

90 K5 Blazer on tons and 37’s
It’s been a while!

Found an old dairy work truck original ochre paint (someone added the white at some point) 2wd short bed. Tore it completely down and rebuilt everything. Swapped the 6 cylinder for a 496 big block and did a 5.5/7.5” drop with a c notch.

All original sheet metal other than the inner fenders!!

Also got the k5 ready for winter. I don’t like winter mode. No doors and top is better.

In the middle of getting the blazer all sealed up, i noticed the door latch is now cracked on both sides after wheeling with the tube doors.

Yeah you need to reinforce that area if you wheel hard

Any good pictures or builds who have done it that you recommend? I thought the cage and sliders would stop the twist that these things get, guess i was wrong haha

I didn't save them but I did see a couple of builds here.
I will try and remember who

Great meeting you today @onetonbb74! Hopefully your buddy showed up.

Did a nice easy half day for a shake down run on my buddies bronco build. Everything went easy. Realized towards the end of the trip i broke the casting on the PSC steering box so it became questionable really quick.

Were all the bolts tight? I usually run longer bolts and run pinch or nylock nuts to make sure they don't come loose.

I've seen a lot but usually it's a cracked frame or loose bolts.
I did the same because mine were getting loose.
Never did after that

usually, they break after a weld on repair kit that’s not perfectly flat

Winner Winner. I was out checking everything last night and it looks like the front two bolts loosened up on me... sad day.
