1991 v3500 - big dumb lifted forever truck

I was just glad to be a part of a discussion that was more than seat covers, weather striping or glass fitment …

Now, back to the killer drivetrain build discussion - where did we leave off: high-pinion D60, super duper high-pinion D70, regular D70, 14 Bolt or D80 front axle and gett’n ole JB Conversions to make a one-off driver drop LOMAX 3:1 case that will accept the MAGNUM FAT-SHAFT and NWF 34-spline solid outputs with a built in tone ring for the VSS ?

I think I know of an HP70f but the limited available ratios thing kinda bites.
For the time being I’m going to build a driveshaft to fit the k30 as it is now until I can find a tcase. Seems like when you want one they are nowhere and when I don’t, I am literally tripping over them in the yards.

So what case are you seeking now?

Driver drop 241dld and 241c to use the dodge front and the gm output housing.
That will work for either truck that gets the driver drop axle.

Well I have the gm driver drop if you get the dodge one.
I will also look for a dodge case.
I know I am far but my buddy is in San Antonio and he might come this way

That makes sense. Would be nice if you were able to build the shaft in a way where you could use it without modification with the hp60 if you end up going that route. That probably what 3-4” difference because of the hp vs lp? Guess would come down to how much more $$ the extra slip travel costs vs re-tubing shaft later if needed.

I know its annoying (and expensive) to build things twice

That guy with the g10 van? I met him before for a, you guessed it, tcase.

if need be i have a divorced ford 203 rangebox and then you could go std doubler / 205 and set case were you want it .

but i will do a magnum if i ever need / want another doubler for the true 3 speed box .

Brought this thing home 8 years ago to the day. Put about 45k miles on it now. One of the longest vehicle ownerships I have had lol.

My blazer since 06 and my 06 dodge since 12, then this. Honestly it’s been an excellent truck overall even when it was awfully stock.

Just daily driving it to work. Take the burb a day or two but not much happening with the truck. I got some 12” springs though to ease the rubbing now that the front has settled. But to make the rubbing worse I got some 1.5 spacers to get the look I want.

Right now it’s 8s with a zero rate so a 9” ish lift at the spring. I’m gonna pull the 1” fatty out of the bottom of the 12s to get 11” and hope that the 2 inch change will get rid of the rubbing and then 3” wider won’t bring it back lmao.
Also pictured is the unfinished axle pallet.
Get around to it one day.
@fourwheelerjeff is kindly trucking that 70f down to me to put on the one day axle pallet. That’s gonna be my try number 2 to get some caster in this axle.

I did decide to keep the 70f in this truck because a 60 just doesn’t fit the vibe I’m chasing.

I read somewhere that those Superlift 12" springs are only 44" eye to eye. Can you confirm?
That would lead me to think that the shackle angle would be unfavorable.
(I've been thinking about how to get 44's on my K10.....haha)

That is 100% true and they are a notorious pain in the ass to install. I am going to be so mad when I put em in too lol.
I used to speculate these were just tens cranked a little harder from the factory and that’s why the have the block and don’t fit worth a damn.
When you get weight on them, they do bend the shackle back but it’s bad. No doubt about it.
