1995 burb SAS: Rockwells and 47s.....

Any updates on this?
@bmxbryant9 what are you looking for? I need to change a few small things, but it's been flawless! The pinion brake is shit. So I'm just going to run the front brakes. I need to change my front slip yoke to 1410. It's a 1350/1410 combo and the 1350 doesn't have enough angle so it binds under droop.

How is this thing doing? I think @Kay86K5 is going this direction soon with his new build.

I don't have any immediate plans for rockwells and 47's on my burb...though I have read this thread before and it always gets me thinking :thinking:

:haha:

But I don't really have a need for something this big...yet, haha.

+2 on a bump for an update on this thing. Such a cool rig for sure

Adam doesn’t get on here on the regular anymore , but the truck is currently down with some front end issues .

So the column shifter has broke off and junkyards only want to sell entire columns for insane prices .

Considering a Winters/Art Carr shifter , any thoughts?

I
Bunch of guys have them.

I know they are popular with the buggy crowd. Wondering how it would do in a truck , seems like it may be a little low for my liking in a truck with a bench seat . ( bench has to stay )

I put that shifter in my sas’d gmt400 burban. But I have bucket seats and removed my crappy center consul that was already falling apart. So was an easy choice to do it. The height is really nice, but could cause some issues since u wanna keep your bench seat. Unless u try and mount it a different way then just on the floor like me

Yeah I would have to mount it much further forward to clear the seat . The bench seat is pretty important at this point . We need all 9-seats sometimes

Update:

Been doing basic maintenance type stuff , I ended up getting the stock column shift parts from eBay and Amazon for a reasonable price .

SM465 swap may still happen but for now the 4L80E stays put .

I modded the shift assembly to ditch the press the brake to shift from park feature , which is probably what messed up when Adam had issues and broke the stock shifter all to shit lol.

I rebuilt the front driveline with a new 1410 slip yoke so I could ditch the 1350/1410 conversion joint which should fix the binding problem at full droop.

Tore down my spare Rockwell front end to nab the center chunk for the front axle the current center chunk has had some issues since we built the rig 4-5 years ago . I’m pretty sure the Detroit locker came apart but it still pulls both front tires so we will see , that’s the plan for this weekend I think.

The brake switch probably failed. I eventually had to get an OE one cause the parts store switches kept crapping out. It wouldn’t let me shift from park and I had no brake lights.
