1995 Tahoe "build" thread. *new question post 68*

I think you have a good idea...just never seen it.

Wonder how the intake manifold gaskets are if the hoses look like that?

From what i gather, the meterial used for the quick connector is some kind of lousy pot metal and lends itself well to corrosion. More so than the aluminum in the intake and stuff, i think that only looks soo bad because its had the coolant leak onto the outside and was given ample opportunity to corrode so badly. So, probably the intake and gaskets arent in good shape, but i doubt they are as nasty as that connector. BTW if you google something like chevy quick connect heater hose, the first like 20 links are people with problems with them. Most folks in the threads replying to people that have had problems with them are replies saying that they ditched them and went to the barbed style.

Quick little paint edit of how it will look with no running boards. Much better. Also i have got to get that exhaust leveled out! The exhaust is actually pretty new looking, but whoever did it made it point down and it drives me nuts!

Ok, here is the one coming out of the pump,

this one is going to break off in the intake when you go to take it out. i have dealt with alot of those. you can take a small sharp shizel and cut the potmetal piece and peel it out of the intake.

Yippy! Yea, thats what i have been reading in my searches. Seems that a large easy out is a waste of time. Wont matter when i do my LS swap anyway...

Shutup! I know you only subscribed to this to see if was gunna do a LS swap! :haha: I REALLY want to. Its just going to be a matter of timing. Wont happen in the next year no matter what. Unless i stuble upon a decent sum of money... I think a 6.0 in a tahoe would be just ever so very bad ass. ESPECIALLY with a solid front axle! But, alas, it will stay mostly like it is for quite some time. I think i want to get different wheels, crank the torsion bars up about an inch and do a 1.5" block or zero rate in the rear and do a set of 285/75-16's. I think thats probably the most realistic/feasible thing that will most likely happen. The motor i think im going to not do anything to at all other than maintenance.

That's basically my plan for my Tahoe. Going to do a 2" torsion key lift, a 1" coil spacer and Z71 coil springs (they are about an inch taller than the LT springs and have a slightly higher spring rate for towing.) I'll do the metric equivalent to 33/10.5 R17s.

Actually, i dunno... :doah: Im at work today. The wife just sent me that picture. I'll let you know tomorrow. The seller i got it from on ebay had like 20k items sold with 99.9% positive feedback so im betting it probably will.

Yep... Just for the record, i know this topic came up recently, I really dont mind chit chat in my threads. I like to imagine my threads are like me documenting what goes on in my imaginary shop, and that all my buddies (ck5 folks) just stop in from time to time BS and check out my progress. I think thats how most folks feel about their build threads.

I have been thinking about finding a similar Tahoe to drop onto my Suburban frame. My friends have been trying for years to get me to paint mine school bus yellow and then making "short bus" jokes...... :haha:

Hardy Har! You all are a bunch of jokesters arent ya?! Anyway...

I REALLY wanted to do an 8 lug swap on this but i have found out that its huge PITA and not worth it. And im not into running adapters. Im trying to make this truck clean and setup for camping/cruising/exploring etc. And trying to do it as properly and cheap as possible. I really dont want this cheap truck to turn expensive unless i WANT it to.

For the plans you listed before, it'd be a waste of time and money to go 8 lug. If you just want a beafier rear then get a 6 lug 14bsf and BOLT it in.
