1995 Tahoe "build" thread. *new question post 68*

Not if i want 8 lug wheels. IF it were possible to just bolt 8 lug bearings onto the front, i would be stoked. But, from what i found in my research it appears to not be very simple. There is a way thats mostly simple looking, but no one has proved it out as working. The issue is that the 1500's used a 3 bolt bearing and the 2500's used a four bolt bearing. The closest i have seen anyone get is using a 95 dodge 2500 (w/d44) 8 lug, 3 bolt bearing, and chevy 8 lug rotors and studs. But i havent seen anyone actually put a caliper on that setup. But if it were a bolt on affair, and i could just swap in a 14blt FF, That would be pretty sweet! I think the tahoe would look sharp on a set of these wheels,

I dont care about the beef! I want the wheels! Really though, if i keep this thing long enough to actually do something about the rear end, i would just do the 6 lug 14bsf. I dont care enough about what wheels it has to go beyond that. Just expressing my discontent at the 8 lug conversion not being a simple swap.

Is the 5.3 / 6.0 that much better than a vortec 350?
I had a vortec but never drove a newer one.. I know the 6.2 is awesome in my mother in laws Denali.

The vortec 350's are awesome! I really like them alot. Problem is, my 95 is TBI. If it were a vortec 350 i wouldnt bother putting a LS in it. The LS vortecs are better than the L31 vortecs in several ways though.

Oh I missed the 95 part... yeah they are dogs! :doah:
My MIL had a 95 before the Denali, I borrowed it one day when we still had our 98 Z71, we went to pass a guy going slow...I thought we were going to die in a head on crash! Gutless compared to my truck.

But still nice to drive when you are used to it.

max, Yea im familiar with the doggness of the TBI! Thats why i put the 5.3 in the burb! They do run pretty good though. Good for cruising and light towing but thats it! I too have had the "im going to die" feeling while passing people in the burb. Lucky to hit 70 at the end of the straight away! One time i "raced" a dude with a stock 01 silverado 2500 with a 6.0. It was incredible how much distance he gained on me that fast... An easy foot ball field ahead of me by 55.

cucv, Thanks! I have been really wanting a 95+ for a long time also! So far i like most everything about working on it. I have crawled around under it and find myself excited at how its put together. Fun for projects!

The more I think about it the more I like your new rig...it would be a perfect 2nd rig for me!

I think I should be looking for one too!?? Dam you! :D

Sorry

You will like it more after i pull the running boards and air dam off today! Its the perfect mix between blazer and suburban. Tho i do think i would like it more with a solid axle. Its tough to beat the ride and drive of the ifs, but its even tougher to beat the feeling of a solid axle.

Off topic!??
What did you do with you old red Blazer... sell it?
I loved the look of that one...I know you had it for sale but somehow missed the end result. :dunno:

Back on topic... I think a high pinion D 44 and a 14 bolt ff nv4500 and a Ls swap and you would have me in tears! :haha:

About the blazer, yes i sold it. On ebay to a kid in illinois. I check in on him from time to time still. He loves it! He bought it for $3800 and then paid $800 more to ship it out there. Once he got it he said he had never seen a blazer so clean in person. Said he could sell it for what he had into it within an hour if he ever wanted to.

Back on topic, yes that would be quite pleasent! I cant wait to see what the future holds for this! Its going to depend on the next year, seeing how well it works out for me vs a pickup. If it turns out that the tahoe is the perfect ride for me, you can pretty well bet it will get a solid axle and a 6.0. If not, it will gwt traded in on whatever pickup i decide to buy. Time will tell!

Looks good... I hate running boards too!
On the 4doors do the back windows roll all the way down?

Good to know the old blazer went to a good home. :thumb:

Good news i think. Turns out, those running boards sell for about $400 new. Mine are in very good shape so i have them on CL for $100. Should be able to get that for them i think.
