1995 Tahoe "build" thread. *new question post 68*

$132 for stainless direct fit headers? Probably wont get them, but might be worth getting them and doing the ultimate TBI mods. Probably could pick up a a few hp and may an mpg or two.

Who makes the headers?

I bought a set of Pacesetters from Summit for my F-150 that were VERY well recomended on a ford forum. They fit like complete ****. They were supposed to be a complete bolt on, and the Y pipe was nowhere near close to lining up, and the socket end on the headers was 2.25" VS 2" on the Y pipe. Knowing what I know now I wouldve just gone with Hooker longtubes, and still might after the engine gets built.

I even wrote Summit an email about it. I doubt they changed anything, but they did send me a $25 gift card.

Ok! No not right now. Way more priortys to spend $132 on before headers!

Oooooh, shiny

Thats what attracted me to them

I dunno. THey are what i call "eBay" products. No name and a cheap price. You made me fae the music to myself though that if i were to ever do headers that it would be foolish to do it and not go long tube. Unless i can find accounts of people using these headers and them actually working/fitting perfect.

The headers I bought are very well regarded on a ford forum. Maybe I got some from a bad batch because they fit for everyone else on that forum.

Then again most other forums are full of bad tech, and bone heads. We are truly lucky here at CK5.

If headers are something you want, I think for that app there might be more, and better options from better companies also. I only went with the shorty headers since I needed the truck back together right away.

Thats pretty strange. But you are right about bad tech and bone heads on some other places! Im Not in any hurry for headers. I just know these TBI motors need all the help they can get. Im not a big header person. In fact, on my 78 im going back to manifolds from headers. Realistically, this thing would get a 5.3 before i would bother with performance upgrades.

Probably not a bad plan. One of my day dream projects I'll never get to is a 98 K1500 ext cab with a 5.3 swap.

You should do it!

I know! We'll see. After i get my big raise at work in about a year and a half and i take good hard look inward at what i really want/need in a truck, i will determine what route to take. 50/50 if im going to buy something new/newish or build something ideal. One of my longest lived pipe dreams is a 95-99 chevy/gmc 2500/3500 extended cab long bed with a d60 front end, cummins and a NV4500. Done with no more than 4" lift and done very nicely. It would be like if GM put out a truck that had a d60 and cummins in it. Then i would tow a medium sized toy hauler with it. The flip side is realizing how much free time i dont have. With that in mind, i could see myself buying a few year old GMC crew cab of some variety. Tough to say. So the harsh reality of this Tahoe is that it likely wont stay with me past another 2 years or so and i'll end up trading it in on whatever i buy next. Now, If i just start to love everything about the Tahoe, i could see it sticking around and getting modified. Time will tell...

Good news, bad news. Got the plugs all in and tye truck finished up but found that i got the wrong o2 sensor... I got the 1 wire unit and i need a 3 wire Runs good though! The other bad news is the radiator is screwed. It leaks at the seams where the tanks meet the core. On both sides, a lot.

Surprised it ran so good with that vacuum leak. That's really common on those. It's amazing how much maintainence is usually needed on vehicles. I usually spend 2-300 on parts for my new purchases. The piece of mind makes it worth it though.

Me too! Yea, pretty much when i get a used vehicle it gets a full tune up and clean up. Usually end up spending $20 at the pressure washer before i even work on them!

Nice ride! Check out tahoeyukonforum for lots of good tech on these particular animals.

Looks good... I hate running boards too!
On the 4doors do the back windows roll all the way down?

Good to know the old blazer went to a good home. :thumb:
Don't know if y5migisi answered your question, but they do not go all the way, only about 1/4 of the way. Very annoying.
