1997 Bayliner Capri SS 2350 454ci- Floor done, now to bust out that other thousand…

That looks pretty nice! Not as bland.

How's it feel having the hard work pay off now?
Feels pretty good. It's one of the largest projects I've done in a long time. To see if finished feels good.

Sort of bitter sweet, a coworker wants to buy it, so won't really be able to enjoy the hard work now lol.

But...I'll have the pride knowing I restored that boat.

Small update for the 1996 refinished boat. Was able to get it sold last month for $8500. It’s a mutual friend, so I’ll still see it around here and there.

As for the 1997 BBC, it got some much needed attention this weekend in the stereo department.

Started with a new Bluetooth head unit, 8-6.5” speakers, a 10” sub woofer and 2 amps. Makes some decent sound, without spending more than $500.

Added 2 new speaker locations on the bow.

And 4 new speakers added at the base of the bench.

Stereo should be a big improvement!
Crazy how last year and this year has turned boats into an appreciating asset.
Hope you are happy with the sale price!

definitely the year to be selling boats, and not the year to be looking.

Previous owner forgot to latch the sun deck, so I decided to replace it while it’s in the shop.

Upgrading from 5/8 to 3/4 marine grade plywood.

So 2 years later, the floor in the 2350SS had developed some soft spots that turned into craters lol.

So today we decided to pull up the carpet and see what needed to be replaced.

Well… per usual for me, the floor is a complete disaster.

Yep, that’s 3 layers of old flooring there. Red carpet and wood to the left. Fiberglassed wood in the middle. And plain wood with carpet again on the right.

Moisture in between the layers. These floors were destined for mass destruction.

The bulkheads and stringers are wood too? Or is that just brown epoxy?

I think Bayliners get a bad name because alot of people that buy them expect to pay less than half the price of a high end brand and then not maintain them. Then they expect the same reliability. That's clearly not you, lol! Enjoying this thread. Keep the lake pics coming

A little more progress today. Got the rot cut out around the perimeter and the first section test fit. Going to be installing some 1x3 along the perimeter to help strengthen the joint, as well as glass it in.
