1998 2wd to 4wd, CCLB SAS

That's about what I was finding to. So just need to setup a relay off the t case switch to power up the coil when in 4 wheel, that will be simple. Other question is does the ECU need to know when it's in low range? I looked in my Chilton's book and it does show a wire from the ECU to the t case switch, but can't find if it's needed to prevent damage or poor function?

Anyone know if the tuning in the ECU is different 2 wheel drive to 4 wheel drive? Or would just hooking up that wire from the t case switch to the ECU make sure it functions proper? I drove it a little in low range yesterday and it seemed to shift fine, wasn't giving it much throttle though.

Does it keep constant power to it while in 4 wheel drive or just a momentary signal from like a push button on the shifter while shifting in to activate the clutch. I can look one up Mon on alldata at work. I don't remember my login to do it away from work. I might even have a Motors manual that shows it too.
Any info you could find would be awesome, thank you.

It looks like it just needs 12V from a relay when you shift into 4wd. Does it have a 4wd indicator light that you could trigger a relay off?
There's a 3 pin plug on the t case I think it's for that, need to pin it out still. Thinking it's 12v, high and low though. Could use that to control the relay.

I was wondering about this too and after looking around and asking some questions on Facebook groups I kept hearing there was nothing to the ECU. but that you had to move your second VSS on your transmission onto your transfer case, so you’re Transmission knows where to shift.
But I’m also a 6.5 diesel so I don’t know if it’s different somehow for gassers

If you are using the transmission speed sensor you don’t need to hook up the transfer case switch. If using the transfer case speed sensor, you do need to.

Thanks everyone, think I have a better understanding and a plan now. Still don't totally get the purpose of the coil but it's clearer then it was. Gears are sitting in the post office so can't get them till Monday. In the mean time, here's some better pictures of the progress, almost there...(not my best exhaust work but it works and was free so... Lol)

So after the kids went to bed, back to the shop I went. Axle is all assembled. Parts house closed sooner then I thought it did so will get a pinion seal and gear oil tomorrow, then 4 wheel is operational.

4 wheel is working. Did a short test drive this morning up some sand hills and it did great. Got to get some customer work done then going Wheeling again later, test it out some more. So far I'm extremely happy with it, a few small things to address but nothing major. So nice having 4 wheel again.

I wish my CCSB was a 454 truck. The 12mpg from the 5.7l was ok for a DD but it's just a tow pig now...

So tried to find something that was a challenge for this truck now, but it went right over everything I pointed it at. Very happy with how this came out, everything works really well.

Also, haven't hooked up the coil or the t case switch yet and had zero issues with it. Looks like with this application it's not required.
