2000 GMT400 CREW CAB SFA SWAP-The Warden: Fuel leak fixed and awaiting surgery…

The ultimate goal for this truck is tow duty/family camping trips/small offroad adventures.
I made my own brackets back in the day and used 56" up front stock form for 4-5inch lift .

no engine / tranny weight but here is few pics with 38x12.50x16.5 tires.

front bracket was 2x2 or 2.5x2.5 square tube bolted to bottom of rail ends with tabs down off that .

rear was ord 4" flip kit and 3" block on stock 5 leaf 64" rears .

also had a 2" body lift for the 2wd cab low floor .

Injector socket will be here tomorrow. Replacement starts at 0800 hours.

I'll to my best to document the process. Looking at it last night, not so sure about the inner fender having to come out. Just doesn't really seem like it's needed.

Assuming you're talking about the passenger side (driver's side is a snap in comparison), I wouldn't be surprised if you could leave the fender in place. I changed out the glow plugs without removing the fender (reaching in the wheel well, between the fender and the frame). Not particularly fun, but doable. Well, almost doable. That number 6 plug is no fun to change if you *don't* remove the exhaust. Injectors are more involved, but you probably will be fine. I think I'd pull the turbine, but it's possible to snake your hand behind it. If your hands are nimble enough. ;)

If you pull the exhaust manifold you will have all kinds of room. It will start to feel like you're working on a 6.2 instead of a 6.5 :wink1:

I don't know how I missed this "build" of yours. I know you have mentioned to me before about your crew cab you are building, but for some reason I never saw this.

I like the look of this thing dude. It will be sick with the SAS on it. I love those tow mirrors too. Great minds think a like (crew cab with camper in the back towing a K5 crawler.....might be the reason our K5's look so much a like :thumb:).

I'll be watching...keep it up

Thanks dude :D

I have a vision, and in due time it should come fourth. Getting pops to get some free time to paint this has been the biggest hurdle.

Got the easy side(LH) injectors replaced. Truck fired right up without any hesitation. Hardly any cranking, and very little smoke. Truck already seems to be running better. I can't wait to finish the other side.

Decided it was easier to remove the glow plug harness for room. Other than that, the only other issue I ran into was the dip stick tube was in the way of removing one of the injector lines.

Tomorrow starts the passenger side.

Good work. Glad you had an easy time with the bleeding. I have been on the non-easy side of that, it feels like a frustrating waste of time. :doah:

Weird on the dip stick tube, I don't remember that.

Now that you have the procedure down, the other side will be a snap. No, not that kind of snap, the kind that makes the job easy. :wink1:

It should be easy minus the turbo removal.

I did take it on a short test drive around the block, and WOW what a difference just from the one side being done. I didn't think I would notice that big of a change from half of the injectors being replaced. I know they were 167k miles old, but still. It feels like more than a new truck. I cannot wait to wrap up the other side.
