2000 GMT400 CREW CAB SFA SWAP-The Warden: Fuel leak fixed and awaiting surgery…

The ultimate goal for this truck is tow duty/family camping trips/small offroad adventures.
Sounds like the timing issues I'm fighting. Except you don't hafta get out and tweak it to change the sound. Must be very convenient.

I'm no help, eh? :haha:
Meh, humor helps keep my mind off of the fact that I'm going to have to spend $1,000 soon on this IP. So bring on the funnies!

You don't HAVE to spend $1000. You just WANT to. There's a big difference. You can buy a whole engine, pump included, for a lot less than $1000. I even know a guy in Kansas who sells them...

If you plan on keeping the truck long term , then spend the money on the good pump and a set of injectors. And while your at it do the Harmonic Dampner and a PMD relocate ( if it hasn’t been done)

This is a forever truck so I want quality for sure. Injectors are only 10k miles old as well as the PMD has been replaced and relocated. Dampener is on the list as well! :waytogo:

Truck ran perfectly fine on the way to work today.

I hate when they do this. Now I'm second guessing that the pump is an issue. Some people have said that there can be wiring issues to a couple sensors that can cause the same symptoms.

I just don't know where to start, or what direction to even go next.

Just shotgun parts and throw money at it. Best bet is a new pump, all new sensors, and a turbo since it could be airflow problems

Unfortunately after spending $700 on new front springs, I don't exactly have the wife's support on throwing parts at it to see what it fixes. I'm going to throw the new springs on this weekend and continue to daily drive it. I won't be towing, or trusting it for out of town trips just yet. I'm just going to drive it and enjoy the springs for a week or 2 while I see if the issue becomes more steady.

I'd double check all connections at the sensors and just keep a close on eye on it. If it is the pump it'll get worse as time goes on.
My exact thoughts. Glad to see my thought process isn't too far off. I'll be spending some time under the hood tonight poking around. Already checked for a working lift pump and wiring. All seems good.

If its intermittent with no obvious signs of whats going on I would bet its an electrical issue, either internal or external to the pump. go to the junk yard and pull used sensors on the cheap to slave in and see

I work for a junk yard Lol, just not one that has any 6.5's left in it. LKQ doesn't like those trucks apparently.
Do you have a fuel pressure gauge?
I don't, but the scanner that the shop hooked up yesterday did.

I guess Im lucky then. My local yard has rows and rows of chevy trucks, a few 6.5s in there. They got big into providing LS/Vortec swap packages so they buy gm trucks up as fast as they can.

I may have to go poke around a couple of local yards to see what they have.
