2000 GMT400 CREW CAB SFA SWAP-The Warden: Fuel leak fixed and awaiting surgery…

The ultimate goal for this truck is tow duty/family camping trips/small offroad adventures.
Stock power diesels are not worth the cost of driving. If you’re not gonna up the power it’s pointless.

As long as you don’t go crazy... anything over 90 hp gets expensive.

Not sure if 03 has the 5th gear lock out? If it does
use it! If not add it! It will be cheep to do on that one if it doesn’t have it. It’s in the computer already, you just have to add a couple of wires. Look it up. Kennedy Diesel sells the kit and has instructions.
01and 02 would need the wireing kit plus a reflash from the dealer.

It starts from there... 285s will rub. So then he will crank the bars, then he will want a progamer to adjust the speedo, then he might as well add power and the next thing you know it isn’t going to be stock anymore! :haha:

Yes. This is how it goes. M.A.W., you know...

I can say without a doubt you stole that truck for $12k. We've taken in a couple of Grandpa fresh GMT800 dirtymax trucks with similar or less miles and had people fighting over them at $20k. A customer that ordered a new '18 a couple of years ago had a clean ECLB '02 dirtymax with similar miles and decided they could get more selling themselves than trading it to us. They were right, but still lowballed themselves. Listed it at $15k and within 5 minutes of the ad going live on the web their phone wouldn't stop ringing. They could have cranked the price up and still had people lined up on it.

Fresh injectors is a bonus too. That's $3000 worth of injectors alone, not including the labor to put them in plus all the other goodies that goodies along with the job.

Nice score for sure! Good work!
Meh, Greg is a flatlander. I, have been wanting a d max and I've lived in Colorado and il. I'll tell you the mountain market is a fair bit different then the flatlander market. Case in point.
Small lot by my house a guy has a ext cab 03 dmax 4wd with 200k for 6500 it literally sat on the lot for a year before it sold. Bet he he didn't get the 6500 either. Now my guess that finding ANY dmax in Colorado for 6500 regardless of miles/condition would be like finding hens teeth.
The turbo is a the great equalizer.
You need it in the mountains. (Or least people think they do)
The other way I can prove this market difference is the big block. They are still hot here. BBC are still worth more then a SBC/LS. And trucks go for slightly more.
And you still never a see BBC's in the junkyard.
You walk around a pick and pulls in Colorado and you will find a TBI 454s laying all around.
I couldn't never believe how many fat blocks I found in the yards out there.
Anyway. Sorry for the digress/rant. I think that Greg paid about what he should have given his location/shape/condition.
I bet @jekquistk5 would back me up on this to.
And it appears to be a decent machine.
Also GLWS of the 6.5. lol!

I don't doubt different markets will fetch different prices. Pre-emissions diesels are a hot commodity around here. To hear one go for a less than average price around here is surprising.

12,000 is pretty much the going rate for a super clean LB7 here in Alaska . Most people here won’t touch them though with the Injector Issues they are known for . So sometimes you can score a cream puff truck for 8500-9500 ( same thing with 6.0 fords
You can find really nice ones for cheap here )

LLY and LBZ trucks seem to be in the 16,000-20,000 range if you can find one . They don’t seem to come up often here though .

Personally, I’m a Cummins guy but if I came across the right deal on a LB7 I’d probably get one . What Annoys me about them the most is that they tend to be crew cab shortbeds ☹️

Edit : and the IFS

Yeah my mega is just tuning only as far as power adder. That and intercooler piping/intake tubes just for airflow.
And a fully billet transmission after I got one really great burnout out of the stock trans when I put the tuning into it lol.

it’s a great looking rig Greg. I love love those cat eye body style and the interiors are great too.

Nice score Greg. Same as what Beags is saying. Here in Utah that thing would easily have gone high teens or more. Everyone here is all crazy with diesel pricing. A 300,000 mile 2nd gen piece o' crap bro dozer dodge would be listed for more than you paid for that. Good thing it's got new injectors. FYI if you do crank the torsion bars plan on doing ball joints every year. It maxes them out so they wear faster. My buddy had an unmolested '04 that had them cranked and he went through a few sets of Moog lifetime ones. Finally researched and did some Cognito(I think) upper arms that have been corrected for the angles with the bars cranked. If it was me I would do a low lift SAS with a dodge AAM front axle so that the abs would still function. It does kill the ride then unless you do the four link coilover SAS. Of course then you can't run big tires either with the dodge axle or you will go through ball joints and unit bearings all the time. On second thought leave it alone. Do some good A/Ts or mudders and some beefy bumpers and maybe your standard intake and exhaust. Don't crank it way up with a tuner or plan on buying a trans.
