2000 GMT400 CREW CAB SFA SWAP-The Warden: Fuel leak fixed and awaiting surgery…

The ultimate goal for this truck is tow duty/family camping trips/small offroad adventures.
I would have to disagree. You don't get the reds and oranges out west. Aspens are pretty but you don't the array of colors the east provides.

That's nothing for a Detroit diesel. Very well documented to run 400,000 trouble free....

Klms?? Them there funny numbers...

My father had a 6.2 that he sold to a neighbor with 312,xxx, last time we seen the neighbor he was over 500,000...

Yep, the way it runs, not doubt in my mine it will see 300k.

My Brother in law had a 95 sub with a 6.5 that was still running great with over 500 thousand klms we he sold it.

Well shoot. This things gonna out live me lol.

You do realize that 500,000klms = 300,000 miles, right? You two used exactly the same number, even if you worded it differently. :deal:

It still may outlast you, but I didn't want it to outlast you on account of a math error. :haha:

It happens, but I wouldn't call it the norm. There are plenty of exceptions to this, I wouldn't parade around telling everyone to expect 400k out of a 6.2 or a 6.5. Mine is already acting tired at 144,000 miles.

I guess it could depend on what you consider "trouble free" to mean. Throw in new injectors, IP, and harmonic balancer every 100k and then making it to 400k starts to sound much more doable. The lower end is rarely a problem on a 6.2 unless the main web cracks.

But getting an untouched factory engine above 200k is a crap shoot. Lots of engines don't make it even that far.

haha haha!!!! They were "tired" when they were new!

:haha: :haha: :haha:

You are right, good sir.

I just meant that it doesn't pop off quite as quickly as my 2 other 6.2 engines do. On the road it seems to be slower and smokier than it was last year. Maybe that's just my perspective changing, maybe it really is different. But either way, it feels tireder than it used to.

This week I had a second brief opportunity to see this truck in person. Mr. Greg has done some really nice fab work, getting Ford pieces attached to GM leaf springs on a non-leaf chassis. Truly a piece of art.

I'll be the one person out there who actually likes his use of nylock nuts.
I noticed that he did finally relocate the PMD...err...it's now back to being a normal FSD.
I'm kinda surprised that he didn't repurpose the old coil spring bucket for the shock mount, but the way he worked it is simple and effective.
I'd be in favor of reinforcing the engine cross member (much or most of it has been cut off to give clearance to the differential).

He does still have one problem...no transfer case yet. So the D60 is lonely.

Overall, it is very nice works of works.

First off, thanks Ethan for the kind words. Much appreciated.

1. The nylocks have yet to fail and kill any nuns, which is nice. I have checked them 3 times since install, and they have yet to be loose. So those are good to go.

2. We aren't done with the coil spring bucket area yet. Thinking about trimming some more, and making it a bump stop location.

3. The engine cross member will be getting boxed in for added strength. Just waiting to make sure I am not going to build a completely custom cross member for additional clearance.

Overall, the truck has been doing great. There are still loose ends to tie up, and a few small things to change.

I do need to get the camper out of it so I can go back to DD usage.
