2000 GMT400 CREW CAB SFA SWAP-The Warden: Fuel leak fixed and awaiting surgery…

The ultimate goal for this truck is tow duty/family camping trips/small offroad adventures.
Spring swap is done.

First impressions, much better. Way better road manners and better quality. I honestly wish I had gone from the old 5 pack HD springs to these, but definitely a noticeable difference from the EZ rides. I would compare the new ride quality to how my old 2500HD rode from the factory with the IFS.

This picture is directly after the first ride around the block. Truck sits perfectly level. Yes, I still need to remove that last door moulding...:doah:

The front tires now rub the bumper just a bit, so I will have to trim the edge of the bumper.

Overall 100% worth the swap. Should have gone this route first, and listened to the many people that tried to warn me that I was wasting money, but you live and learn.

Eventually the rear will be getting new springs, but for now all seems well. Now on to the 4x4 stuff......maybe.....eventually.

Were they the HD EZ rides, or the softer ones? And what application are they for? I assume they're not for a 2000 C3500. ;)
Yes HD eEZ rides. I think they were still too much for my truck. They were just a 78-87 1 ton front springs.

Interesting. My truck is lighter than yours, and I'm tickled pink by my soft EZ-rides. They're soft enough for body roll to throw off the steering in a turn. They're paired with the softest rear spring that General Spring K.C. offered (1850# rating). It's a huge step up from what I'm used to.

So either the HD springs are a lot stiffer than the soft ones, or my standards are a lot lower than yours. :dunno:

Or both! :haha:

The ez rides I put in my Yukon were stiffer than the springs from an old Mack dump truck. Only after I took the overloads out, ran the Rubicon trail, then put the overloads back in did they settle down enough to be liveable. I'm still going to spring (heh) for some Alcan springs front and rear.

I highly doubt my truck is much lighter than yours. Remember, yours is made with real American steel. And we both have 6.x TD stuff.

I have Alcans on the back of my Xterra. I'm super pleased with the ride, flex and capacity of them. They're holding up great.

I said your truck was heavier, not lighter. Mine is about 5900# with driver & a full gas tank. Yours is 3 feet longer and has a much beefier frame. It should be heavier, even if your sheet metal is of a thinner gauge.

Quite a bit heavier I bet. My Yukon tips the scales right at 6000 lbs full tank and no driver.

You can't let my saggy old beater beat your shiny new beater. Especially given your length. :deal:

Cool that it's flexing. But c'mon, man. You can find a bigger obstacle down there, even in Flatland. I wanna see a wheel off the ground!
I have to have 4 wheel drive for anything much bigger. Even a g80 would propel me up slightly larger obstacles.

And again, my 4wd isn’t working very well.
