Well today was fun... I went and got breakfast and got home and my key just spun and spun in the deadbolt... Locked out with my food getting cold. So after eating on my porch I spent 2.5 hours drilling, hammering, chiseling, and destroying my way through the deadbolt. They apparently don't want people to be able to get in without a key lol. So it was a slow start today and I had to quit a bit early due to some work related things I need to get done.

So, I'm just curious why you'd be locked out? I'm sure it's none of my business, but I'm also sure there is a nice story behind it that could be posted in the lounge if it's not already.

Oh BTW - this thing is crazy!! Awesome!!

Later,
Buddy

I wasn't "locked out" as you may think. The deadbolt actually broke. There was a small E clip inside that fell off so the part that turns the deadbolt when the key is turned was not working thus I couldn't get in...

Small update tonight... Got the 8 lug adapters made. Should have tires/wheels on the front of the truck tomorrow.

Stock mog hub being machined down to fit inside 8 lug rotor and fit the new 8 lug hub flange. Basically took ~2" off of the OD and machined the pockets for the lug stud heads to recess into:

This is the 8 lug hub flange that was shown earlier in this thread in a rough state. This is the rotor side finished:

3 of them done:

Here is a 99% complete hub. The new flange is welded to the modified mog hub. The rotor will slip over the assembly like new trucks do. Rotor indexes on the lip in the center of the flange. Studs are normal 9/16". Only thing left to do is turn the OD to get rid of the weld bead and then they are done. The joint was heavily "V" grooved so it's not a problem:

Thats it till tomorrow.

Ok, got a late start today but got a bit done...

Finished hub with the OD turned to size:

Hub installed with rotor. I don't have the shorter bolts for the hub yet so I used a few of the stockers with a 1" spacer made from 3/4" EMT... Works for now.

Stock HMMWV rim with plenty of clearance:

Next was project was to build the final links for the front. As you saw in an earlier post I acquired some nice 2.5" 9/16" wall DOM for my lowers and 2" 1/4" wall DOM for the uppers. Since the lowers were 9/16" wall the ID became 1.375" which needed to be opened to 1.5" to clear the tube adapters. So I bored a 1.5" hole into the end of the links about 1.5" deep, finally got to use my steady rest:

IMG_0104.jpg

Now the tube adapters fit and you can definately see how thick these links are... Next up was to taper the ends to make them look a little nicer:

Tapered and welded:

Installed:

Never thought I would think 1-1/4" heims are small but after these links, I'm thinking so. Don't think they will bend? In person it really is comical how big the links are. Got all the links finished and all the 8 lug hubs finished today.

Also got one coilover assembled and installed:

I got new shocks but re-used the coils and hardware. I cannot find one of the coil carriers so I didn't get the pass. shock in tonight but I'll find it in the daylight tomorrow and get it on and get the thing sittings on it's tires.

I think I need some lower rate coils now so I'll have to do some math tomorrow once it's sitting on it's own weight and see what I need to do.

So umm what are ya gunna do when you cant break it anymore?
I have an idea Ill come get it so you can start fresh, ok?

Does not get any better than that. Nice Set-up:bow:

Got diff clearance? :)

IMG_0126.jpg

Not a whole lot of tech on this post. Got my tires/wheels/brakes done on the front and got it off the jackstands. That was a big milestone till I realised I still have to do the rear :p On to the pics! Sorry for the blurryness, it was pitchblack outside and I had jittery hands, camera didn't like that...
