3/4 Ton Swap is DONE: **d-shaft question**

oh yeah...I never got those pics up...its been crazy (and the laptop crashed so I'm on a new computer now...)
I'm going to try to slave the old hd and get the stuff off of it but I'll go take some updated pics with everything done...
I've got some of my friends from school that wanted to take pics w/ the beast so I might be generous and post those up too...sit tight.

center pin center pin center pin...its called a tie bolt and napa has a wealth of sizes and a book that tells what size you need for certain axels perches or truck springs(helps mix match axels and trucks) so the head is correct! the length depends on thickness of spring pack....jeez yall all over the poor boy and not 1 person called that tie bolt by its correct name!

So Avery,

When is the Dana 60 going in? :haha::haha::haha::haha::haha:

You're alright man! You're okay!

Have a great day!

Manny

Once I get everything else worked out (tranny, tires, etc.) I think I want to try and replicate what K5MONSTERCHEV did w/ his front 14ff...could be a fun project...might take me a long long time but it won't matter since the truck will already be set w/ the 8 lug 10b...but thats a while down the road.

oh lord:haha: and why would you do that? you do realize it cost alot more than a d60, and he never actually got shafts in it...

yeah I realize that...thats what'll make it worth the effort...anyone can drop in a D60 :)
Plus shafts and things of that nature are no biggie...I can just make them at work. ;)
iono...I have some plans but I'm not going to share everything quite yet.

Avery, buddy,

I applaud your tenacity for wanting to be your own man and truck, but please carefully think this through. Many, including myself, view this as "re-inventing the wheel." Muddybuddy is right. Why spend all that money on something when you can, for the same price, build a killer D60 that will more than handle your 38's? It's a matter or question of proven vs. unproven.

Don't take this the wrong way. I'm not discouraging your decision based on what it is, just simply that with you being so young, and in college, money is a premium for you. Sometimes you need to do what's prudent and save the bling bling mods for later down the road. JMHO.

Best wishes! Get that rig to Texas so we can bury her!

Manny

thanks for the opinions...like I said above its not going to be any time soon as there are other drivetrain mods I need to get done...BUT when the time does come where the BIG stuff is done I'll pick up a 14ff and start tinkerin' with it...could take a while but it won't matter b/c the truck will be running...:)
