3D Printing Projects - Truck parts and tools

Ya that's the one I keep himhawing over. I don't print enough to justify it but the quality that comes from it is so nice plus being able to print different colors is a big bonus.
Black Friday had it at 45% off making the decision easier.
That is the one I have been kicking around. I am proficient at 2d CAD. 3D is being learned.
The main thing to learn is using constraints in addition to dimensions. Rather than drawing exactly to scale, you will draw the rough shape and use constraints plus dimensions to fully define a 2D sketch before turning it into a 3D geometry.

If you print that on it's back I think it would waste a lot less material with the multiple colors? Although with the taper and the cup holder still being taller it would still have to switch colors a lot even on its back.

With the door closed does the cup clear the dash?

And for comparison, here is one part printed on the back, so double the filament used for both sides. 272.18g x 2 = 544.36, a bit more than the single print for both parts printed upright.

It's interesting you can check all that before you print it, nice. I forgot about the supports. And you can see the flushed material, support material, model material, everything, nice, thanks for that demo.

Is that PLA?

The kids got theirs tonight, I am contemplating whether I should get a larger one or not, also for shop use, and not just kid hobby use. The one we got is also a Bambu P series.

The engineering in me says return it and get the H2S but the practical person in me says that's too much money to make big plastic parts.

I am currently printing in PLA for the purpose of doing the first run fit checks. I have PTEG, ABS, and glass filled ABS and can run that for final parts.

You can always buy a second one later that is bigger but it is not hard to find ways to fit smaller parts together in an assembly and glue them together. Having the AMS is nice for the multi color part options. I don't have to play with g-code either with the way they set these up.

These had a couple issues during the print. the printer head popped off around midnight due to the dump door backing up and not dumping the waste. I was able to fix that just before I went to bed. Then, I woke up to the blue filament being empty at 90% print in the morning. I didn't have the same color to finish the print, so I swapped in matte blue to finish. This set is just a test print to work out the geometry and only printed in PLA, so I ordered some PTEG-CF this morning to have enough to make two full sets in blue, one or two in black, and one in gray.

I am going to a GM Truck swap meet the begining of March. What would you want for a set? I am selling a bunch of stuff there. I am sure I could get some orders for you.
