454 low-mid range torque build?

That opens the door to pretty much all aftermarket EFI. Note that unless you plan to turn yourself you might have trouble finding a shop to tune obscure stuff like the Dynamic. However the Dynamic and the Megasquirt are quite good once you get to know them.

Dynamic offers a plug compatible unit for the 94-95 Manual trans ECMs IIRC.

Is this the 12 pin ALDL style obd1?

Your best bet on OBD1 is TunerPro or TunerCat.

If its OBDII, those also work on the 16 pin models

If you want to go down that rabbit hole:

Gearhead EFI is probably where to start, get the ECM number off the current unit

Edit: you may need to try Moates.com that may be a chip PROM

i think it was 92 if i recall they went big eprom chip and there NOT cheep the last time i talked with the chip guy at howell efi .

Depends on the ECM. Some of the 94 models are PROM, some are over-written on the ECM.
That's why the ECM number needs to be referenced first

When i bought a chip for a 7747 TBI from Howell it was $200 (in 2015)

Not computer illiterate, but programming isn't one of my strengths. Would certainly need practice with either of those to get it dialed in correctly. Sounds like the factory TBI system is capable of the build ideas (mild boost) just requires programming by the user to get it right. Few hundred bucks for essentially unrestricted computer access.

What about the Sniper EFI systems?

I personally wouldn’t use the Sniper

A low budget $10,000 supercharger and aftermarket EFI system should get you about 200-HP more out of your 454, and about 22-miles per gallon. That would be my advice.

When looking for a aftermarket efi, don't buy the cheapest one. You need to look for midrange options. The holley terminator, fast ez efi, Fitech, msd, are all solid choices. The sniper is not the same playing field as the other holley products.

Haha for me 10k would be a diesel swap. But that is roughly double the budget and not the plan.

A 177 series supercharger kit is about $3500, TBI programming about $500 + lots of my time to figure it out, add in exhaust/intake with other smaller items I'd expect 5-6k total. Sound about right?

What's the deal with prochargers? Made for that vintage vehicle, kind of pricey but if it includes programming, maybe not so bad? https://www.procharger.com/truck-su...uv#/1988-95-gm-trucksuv-tbi-57-74-street-kits

ZooMad posted them up earlier as well. Honestly when I looked at the link the first time I missed the part where it discusses that tbi tuning is included. $5400, estimated 60-65% increase in HP which if torque increase is similar would put it at very comfortable, even a little higher than my goals.

$4000 for a 177 series and tune with lots of trial/error adjustments by me (plus intake), vs $5400 for a kit that's warrantied and includes an intercooler. Once adding in the intercooler, intake plumbing, tuning trial/error time, certainly a viable option.
