4wd help needed!

A little late to the party but poly on a trans isn't great. Whole truck will buzz. And I refuse to use Chinese junk so a little tip for ya: your current trans mount is exactly the same up to 2012 in full size trucks.
700, 4L60, 4L80 etc all the same.
Try GM part# 15750514 or 15113134. Both are the same thing.
I have 15750514 on my '89 Blazer.

Great tip! I will try and see if i can swing by a dealer, and pickup one that doesn't suck. :waytogo:

L'ooked at a spare front shaft I have for my 84' and sure enough, it doesn't have the damn grease port I described in my other post. I know my 72' blazer shaft had it but I don't see it in this shaft I have.

Went to the dealer. 15650514 didn't exist, but 15113134 did, and looked exactly the same as the one i had. Good work.

It was $65 at the dealer, vs. $15 for the Anchor brand, but the quality difference is worth not having to do it again soon.

Great tip!

Cool. Glad they had one in stock. I get them off ebay for $35-$50 so you did ok. 15750514 might be the older number.
Wait a minute…just noticed something.
Did you give parts guy the number you posted up?
It is was off one digit. 15650514 vs 15750514. Might be why he couldn't find it.:D
Either way, you're good for another 22yrs now!

Just a typo in my post.

We have a winner!

Replaced the mount, tightened up the crossmember, put the skid plate and drive shaft back in, and we're back in business!

No driveshaft or U joint issues. The worst part of the noise was caused by the back of the transfercase hitting the skid plate. The fin on the tcase was worn down.

Thanks for all the help guys!

In all of this mess you failed to call me and have me look at it when we're neighbors now.

I probably could have saved you alot of hassle had I seen it.

Don't you worry Scott. Had it not been such an easy fix, once I actually did some diagnostics, you were getting a phone call!

Glad you got the impala back on the road! I'll give you a call soon to chat about rebuilding my steering box.

I can tell you for sure it wont be before spring time as my garage is the biggest cluttered mess you could imagine after moving and having to cram everything in there quickly.
