Work smarter, not harder!
What’s the plan for this one?
Short term, find a set of rollers that hold air for at least 24hrs...
Kinda of a funny story how my Dad got the car.
Both my folks are from England. After they jumped the pond my Dad decided he was an AMC person.
They bought a new 73 Matador for my mom to drive while he drove a 68 conv 400 Firebird which he hated working on (still have both cars) & this was the beginning of the hoard....
This Javelin was advertised in the local newspaper (late 70's) and was only a block or so away.
Car was rough for the age.
Front right had been in a small fender bender and beat back into shape with a hammer.
Half the dash was pulled out for AC repairs (& still is) and it had a real bad miss.
150 bucks later, this jem was his.
Went with him to pick it up. He starts it, runs horribly.
I noticed a crack (large enough for an 8 yr/old or so to see) in the dist. cap and opened my mouth...
Dad hands me a bag from Chief's auto parts with a new cap in it and tells me to change it while he sat in the old Matador with the AC on...found out how important 1 wire at a time was when you didn't know what you're doing.
He drove it until 85 pretty much untouched, decided to fix the fender and throw new paint on it.
Right after that the trans retired and he started driving the 70 AMX in this post or a 69 AMX depending on which one ran at the time. Still have the 69 also.
Plan for the car is to get it back on the road with a mild 401, overdrive trans and fuel injection.
Motor is built and sitting on a stand.
Trans is still up in the air.
200R4 would fit without any body mods.
700R4 would fit with a BFH.
Have several 727's. With a Gear Vendor's overdrive should work well and fit the tunnel too...
Fuel Injection will be a ProFlo4 most likely.
Should make a decent driver and I want to do some road trips in it. Car has just over 100k and never really been out of the DFW area.
That will change.
