700r4 blowout thread *ITS DONE!* :)

kickdown for a 400 is like $50 bucks...thats if yuo dont wanna have to engineer anything except how to get pwoer to it...seriously go with the 400...i did my 700r died with 31s...you can still run your 208 if you wanna. theres an adapter plate for em to mate up happily idk the part number but its out there...(its undermy truck) lol

SLOW down like everyone says and think long and hard about this. 1500 isnt exactly a "little" bit of money, you **** up and buy a ****ty tranny adn do this again in 3-5years youll be kickin your own ass...THINK ABOUT IT!!

anyway F*ck aamco hell for 3000ill fly to cali and swap em out for you...lol

ahahaha yeah $3000 is freaking insane! The worst part was it was open ended...not even a set price just an estimate that they could tack on w/e they wanted to.

Well I'll tell ya' what...if this 700r lasts 3-5 years I'll be a happy camper...and if I blow it out then we'll talk about a th400...:) Who knows...maybe I'll just be crazy and put in a 4L80 w/ stand alone comp when the time comes. ;)

Avery, just because you live in Cali and have to deal with smog doesn't mean you can't make power. When I rebuild my new engine it will have a little over 425 torque and I will pass cali smog, both visual and with the snifter test. Your going to wish you had purchased a Bow Tie overdrives transmission. A rebuild to second gen specs still has all of the problems of second gen chevy tranny. Its going to shift like mud and wear out the bands quick. Especaially with those gears you have. Although the 4.10's will be better on them then the 3.08's. Good luck with whatever finality you figure out. Check out a tranny cooler and put a bung on the bottom of the tranny pan so you can drain and change the tranny fluid often so you don't burn up your new GM second gen reman...

i went with the reman. 700r4 from gm like i told you about awhile back.i was going to change to the th400 also but was told that the overdrive had somthing to do with the emission control and could not be swapped.i picked mine up it was only about $1200 i believe w/warranty.i went the cheaper route and istalled it in the driveway with my buddy helping, then took the core back.when it went out a month later[my fault]they replaced it and installed in one working day.it my not be as built as you want but a b&m shift kit is only like $50.00 for the 700r4.like itold you before that warranty is tits they took care of me and got replaced quickly and free of charge.i say go gm or go home.
X 2:deal::deal: 100K MILE 3 YEAR WARRANTY !!! Is there any other choice to make?

I got a warranty with my tranny too. It is the line of sight warranty, as soon as Im out of sight, the warranty is over... :D Seriously, if I ever had any problems with this tranny ever again I know my tranny shop would take care of me. ~Brian

ive got something like that written on my shop wall...i fix to many of my buddies trucks. "30-30 warranty" ie 30 foot or 30 seconds whichever happens once :D :haha: LOL

Like I said before next on the list is 4.88's or 5.13's...as in within the next couple of weeks after I get this tranny in so that'll be taken care of.
Oh and I guess I never mentioned this but my big B&M cooler showed up so its going in as well...

should I put it in series or run it instead of the rad. loop?

grow the fock up wes...if you don't want to help don't click on these threads. So if I don't take your suggestion then it means that I'm not taking you seriously and doing w/e the fock I want? I don't think so. nate said to give AAMCO a try...I did...they were crazy...it didn't hurt a damn thing and now I know not to use them.
Seriously dude, iono what your problem is.
I have grown up, Avery. I know when to say when. I don't come to this site and ask stupid n00b questions and stand by my own half-assed decision when others have better, smarter and cheaper suggestions for you.
Your threads do one thing: pointless dragging.
There is no point or sense in talking to you. You are about as stubborn as an ass.

Next time you want to tell me to "grow up", lets hope thats in person. We'll see how you will fare...
I'm taking advice from a frickin' 13 year old. :surepal:
Wanna get smart with me? Why not learn the hard way like I did....trial and error. Don't stand by your ideas if they're not gonna work. Listen to others here and in life, too, and you will go places.

im not gonna start more crap here, but you do get what you pay for, unfortunatly avery lives in california, we all know that cali is the most expensive places to live in the world, that same trans that he was quoted at that aamco may be only 2100 at our shop.. i offered to build avery a NICE 700 that would handle way more power than he will ever put out but he doesnt wanna R&R the trans, not a big deal, but if your gonna wheel you need to know how to work on your junk, a trans is cheesecake compared to some other things on these trucks.... either way, good luck to you avery, hope it lasts awhile for ya... nate

yeah thanks again for your help. I could do the trans...my old teacher offered to let me use his tranny jack and help me out but for now I'll let the shop do it.

haha wes...dude...what were people suggesting? Oh thats right...everything! seriously when you look back through the thread no matter what I brought up some people liked it...others didn't. So if this means I start learning things the hard way...so be it.

:)

haha, ill take this as a joke man, slash and bash aamco all you want, but dont you think that we would be out of business if we didnt know how to build em?? your getting the years of experience and knowledge in every unit we build, $3000 isnt bad for a trans now a days, **** the lexus i did today was $6355 out the door without the mount, strut, and new cat it needs.... Illl admit, $3000 is high for a 700, but i also gave him a list two pages long of stuff that i would want done in my trans if i didnt know any better..... BTW, theres no adjusting a tv cable on a 700, its either right or wrong... just fyi

avery, after reading this post again, if he gave you a high and low price, he was wrong for doing that, california is a set quote (whatever its called) state, if he quoted you $500, guess what, your only gonna pay $500, they cant give you high and lows, he can do a inspection, but if its a good center they should already know what caused the faliure before they even gave you a quote.. ill be speaking with home center about this one, as i told him to hook you up.... Not that it matters to you now, but it does for me... nate

yeah I was wondering about that. They never even looked at my truck..we just stood there in the office and he gave me the blank stare.
As I said before I finally had to ask what he would charge for a bone stock 700r4 out of an '85 K10 and he came back and said it would be about $1800...but he then proceeded to say that once he opened it up he would have to add on the price of "hard parts" (iono thats just what he kept saying) so the way I interpreted it was he wanted to leave it open ended and not give me a set price.
IMO he was sort of a weird dude.

i think avery is doing the right thing here trying to use a little of everyones knowedge and making his own decision.dont get all butthurt because he didnt like or go with your decision, and threating someone online is about as usefull as a cock flavored lollipop and doing it makes you just what that lollipop tastes like. i think hes intitled to his own decision and if you dont like the tread dont post up.

where the heck did you come from??? i dont hafta explain myself to anyone, i was just recommending a good place for a rebuild to avery, wasnt threatening anyone or anything like that.. home center is our central center that deals with all the bull and stuff like that... nothing related to this message board...
nate

BTW, welcome to the board.. with a attitude like you have, you will make a lot of friends here...

roflmao...dude thats great.
Yeah don't worry about Wes...he is an encyclopedia of knowledge but he knows how to dish it out :)

I don't think he was talking about you Nate.

yea what he said, wasnt really talking about you nate. i just think people should just put in their 2 cents and not get so butthurt because they think someones not listening, in the end its not up to them anyway. do what you thinks best for you and dont worry about all the haters.
