700r4 blowout thread *ITS DONE!* :)

Like I said I read all your :haha: post and like I said its worthless trying to help you out. There is a big difference in the diffs. and you cant see it. Your talking about a master install kit and gears. $400 for parts and $450 in labor is alot. Come on bro you can get these parts for around $250 if you look around. Not even I paid that much for gears and master install kit for the 60.

I've requested price quotes for gears and master install kits from the vendors on pirate and on here before and I don't get anything back so I didn't feel like begging them to let me give them my money...:)
I'll keep looking though...maybe order gears and master install kit then have him install them...

I just saw a master install kit on ebay for $127 and gears currently going for $66 master install kit was buy it now and gears where bidding you can do that and save money.

I'll have to check it out. I know I can get cheap gears and parts but they are just that...cheap. Like that American Racing...or American something...I can't remember but I've heard a couple guys say that although they're prices are low don't go with them b/c the gears are junk.

Something like this....
GEARS

and I need to search around for the master install kit...the only things I can find on eBay are bearing and seal kits but not actual install kits for the gears...

I sent driveline specialists a message on eBay to see what they could do price wise for 5.13's and a master install kit so I'm waiting to hear back from them.
I sent them a message b/c all of their ring/pinion sets for the 10.5 14ff only go up to 4.88's...they never list 5.13's.

I think you should try real hard to listen to what people are telling you and cut it out with that selective hearing you seem to have. You ask questions and people give you answers. If you are not willing to at least consider the options they give you, DON"T ASK! If you pay what those people are telling you then you will be getting ripped off big time. I personally don't care and i'm only writing this so that other people will read this and stop voicing their opinions for you. It's apparent you're not even willing to try and fix your own truck so you shouldn't even own it, go buy a civic and be done with it.

Hey Avery,

Dude, I consider you like a little brother. That's not a put down. It means I care. I think you need to put the brakes on the ring and pinion job by this guy and just let him take care of the transmission.

There are so many different shops that you could buy stuff from. There's Reider Racing, Randy's Ring & Pinion, Drivetrain Specialists. The list goes on and on. All you need to do is pick up an issue of Petersen's 4Wheel & Off-road and you'll see all the vendors with 800 toll free numbers. All it takes is about 30 minutes out of your day to make the calls necessary to save you $150-$300.00. Personally, JMHO, I'm not a big proponant of e-Bay for R&P, MI or Lockers. Little or NO recourse if it goes wrong. Plus, you don't get tech support, like you when you buy from a gear house. No disrespect to others who have suggested that avenue.

Avery, that's a lot of change. It may not seem like it, but after you spend $40K wisely on a truck, you take note of every little thing you buy and you make sure you are getting the best deal possible. At your age, working for $300.00 is a big time deal. Just because it's your parents money doesn't mean that it makes it any less significant. It makes it MORE of a priority to use wisely because you got it as a GIFT. Your parents gave it to you under the condition that you would spend it wisely!

There is no reason you need to get the 5.13's done right now, as in immediately. Shop and get it done in the next week or so. No damage will occur unless you romp the piss outta your truck. Do yourself a favor: take the time as you have invested much into your rig, and save yourself the money. It will be well worth it and you can use it to help offset the cost of the front ring and pinion. Otherwise you will just reinforce the:

reputation you are apparently workin' so hard to obtain.

Just my .03 cents at the current rate of inflation. Tryin' to help, that's all.

X2!

And even if you had the money, it's a wise idea to put each project on one at a time to test to see what the current project rendered. But that takes disipline.

x2! Good point CDA! That'll give him a little time to guage the results of the tranny rebuild. Kudos!

Wow, what a read. I'm off work with an injury so I had nothing better to do.

Avery I just want to say, I hate everyone. Well, that's not really true, but I judge people very harshly. :D I expect a lot of the people that I call friends, and on my job, my 'brothers'. And I have a special dislike for most teenagers these days.

That said, I'm continually mystified by the crap you get from the guys here. And generally since 'the big one' I think you've taken a whole lot of it with a smile and pretty positive attitude, and dare I say with a growing maturity. You are young, and you will learn life the same way every 'next generation' has for a millennia, the hard (or harder at least) way.

As you mentioned EVERY option was offered. And as you also mentioned EVERY company or product has a bad rep somewhere. And every solution works to a different extent given countless variables. And with your limited funds, skill set, and resources you WERE trying to make the most fruitful decision. Sure you like to chat it up, and you DO have a penchant for
'voicing' your thoughts as they flow. I don't see that as a big deal personally, CK5 is a social event to an extent, more so for some than others.

Basically, I just want to say good luck, and don't let any of the guys get you down. I personally believe there are 'worse offenders' out there that somehow stay under the radar. I think the last time I supported you it was in a PM, I wanted to show public support this time.

I suppose bashing a fellow member is fine, but mention short comings of certain vendors and a post gets scrubbed asap. Hmmmmm

Fireplug,

I'm kindly, without offense asking if you have an issue with what I have said to Avery? He is like a brother to me and I'm trying to show him different ways without imposing his free will choice. He has the right to go with what best suits him, but at the same time, all I am trying to do, is show him that there are other ways to get the same thing done at a savings. If I did not do that, how could I be a friend? Friends sometimes have to deliver tough love. I'm no exception. I have been corrected in my buildup several times and have heeded advice and rebuilt what I just finshed...rebuilding!

Avery knows that and in all the posts I have written, I have never personally attacked his character or lowered to belittle him. I just recognize the behavior, because quite frankly, at his age, I admit I was 100x worse.

Just trying to help him out. Just explaining so you understand.

Manny, the short answer is no. And you've shown yourself to be a stand up guy and extremely good natured to boot! I'm not looking to 'get into it' anymore in this post, really I just wanted to support Avery publicly as I see him taking far more crap than I feel deserved. I'd be happy to expand on it in a PM if you're so inclined. Jason.
