'72 Bluggy: Rocks/ 47s/ LoMax

Hoping progress will pick up soon. Bender is welded together, hoping to have it painted soon. Headed to Katemcy this weekend, so it probably won't be until next weekend. But I will be picking up my tubing as well this weekend...so getting closer to the light :D One more month until graduation, so I need to get this done since we're planning for a house soon...

I'm having trouble visualizing how the tube goes into that bender. Are you gonna have problems with longer pieces hitting the floor/ceiling? I like the nice compact cart though. :waytogo:

I've only used the bender once outside and the tubing was getting up there :haha: But here's a video of it being used....

A little over 5 weeks until the last run at Katemcy Rocks, time to get chit done....

Started on my gauges...Just trying to figure out whether I should add another couple of gauges to make up for the empty space, but I'll probably just add a clock and leave the other 5" space empty......

And how they're mounted...Simple, yet looks like it's going to work out.

Solid mounted the propane clamps...

McLovin',

I can't tell from those high-res photos :wink1: but did you already finish-weld those bars in place?

My suggestion is to only use a few strong tack welds for now until you get the entire structure figured out and in place. You'd be amazed how many times you're going to want to make a small adjustment or change before you're done, and cutting off a full-perimeter weld gets old in a hurry.... BTDT.

Are you going to be running doors or a top when this is all done? Those first two bars have got me wondering how much of the original look is going to be put back on....

I voted to tack 'em in, but my buddies kept telling me to just weld 'em in, so they're in forever now :haha: But it doesn't matter, I have 4 weeks to finish this damn thing & there's no going back, just forward. The rest of the supports will only be tacked tho. No doors or top...just fenders, hood, & grille :eek1:...but that might not be until I get back from the wheelin' trip. The plan right now is to get it wheelable.

You gonna run the landscape timber for your seatbridge??

Seats

Bolt the mounting tabs from kert to the seat and tack in the rear bar for the seat bridge. Then place front bar and set the the seat. You can adjust the width of the to for heighth and placement.

That's what worked for me, and I smile everytime I hop in!

The seat is staying where it is now. I feel pretty comfortable with it's current location. I have some tabs laying around, that I'll be using to mount the seats to. Those pieces of wood really helped me pretty much lay out the whole cage by helping me decide where the seats would go.

:) wipe them down with a little lindseed oil and polyurethane and you'll get many years of service.

In procrastinating working on my blazer I just managed to read through your entire build thread. Wow! I'm excited to see how you do the cage, that is on my to-do list coming up here, I'm guessing i'll be borrowing some ideas based on the stuff you've done thus far. Keep it up man, it may seem like it's been a while but from what I've seen: School, wife, kid, and all the quality work... you've been busting a$$. I'm still going to hassle you and tell you to hurry the hell up though. I want to see some videos.

Have you decided how you're going to go about mounting those BBCS's?

Don't use my ideas, nothing spectacular...pretty much just trying to get it back out on the trail. :haha: The front BBCS will mounted using Kert's D60 tabs, then slightly inboarded to mount off the front tubing. The rear BBCS will be inboarded as well. I just don't know exactly where...just that they'll be double shear.

Also I may have a Fan Shroud laying around...shoot me a PM if you're interested...

The rollcage is coming along...slowly but surely. Between working, the family, and summer time, it's a bit hard to get any work done. But I'm hoping to start moving into my house next week, so I'll finally have my own garage to work out of...hence easier for me to work on it. I'll be starting the front half next and then moving on to finish off the rear...Put in 7 hours worth of work today in 103* weather & as you see in pics, the damn thing is sitting out in the sun
